  1. I cant remember what its called, I updated mine through itunes on the computer, quite a while ago now - just plugged the phone in and it did an automatic update. It should do, I don't get a blue question mark on mine
  2. you can send pics on iphones now, but you have to download an update to do it.

    Appleby fair

I was there yesterday, had a great time - even though it rained all day. Not had time to sort through my photos yet, but I'll put some up when I have
  4. My grandad taught me to love nature and appreciate the countryside around me. He served in the second world war in Egypt in the Royal Signals. He loved to be out in the countryside. In the last couple of years he suffered from dementia, which is very hard to live with - I do understand what you're going through now cúagusgiorraí. He died last month at the grand old age of 92. My grandad was a wonderful man who never had a bad word for anyone, he had a child-like outlook on life and was determined to enjoy himself and never complained about anything. I miss him terribly
  5. shes not mine Wexford, shes Brian Nuttalls. ha well good luck to Brian then.. .... Pa my point exactly
  6. shes not mine Wexford, shes Brian Nuttalls.
  7. why would u be telling any one to fook off thats the mans bread and butter now the more pups he sells the better its his living Any man thats working his dogs properly wudnt let u into his yard, thats why brian doesnt mind cos anything in it hasnt been worked for generations.. Nuttalls done his bit for the game many years ago, he's now doin the opposite and milking it.. ..... Pa Youre wrong there, if you know anything about him at all you'll know that he still does a bit. A youngish bitch of his, straight out of his own yard, dont ask me her breeding cos I dont know it.
  8. Nothing to do with this thread, but I have noticed you have a photo of my dog as your profile pic. Why is this, don't you have a photo of your own to put up?
  9. I heard so much about that video, that when I first saw it I was quite disappointed. Deerhound x's are good on the lamp, but I dont think that video shows them at their best. And for the record, they don't need dry stone walls for rabbits to bounce off, deerhound x's can run and run and run some more, picking rabbits up in their stride - people make out its a problem for them; its not.
  10. Thats right, I have seen a fawn once, Islas brother was light fawn brindle, but any others I have seen have always been brindle or black
  11. a few things, it just doesnt look like a first cross to me at all - size, colour & shape to start with, first crosses tend to be much larger than the dog in your photo looks, deeper in the chest, longer in the back and legs. Your dog looks to have some collie in it to me, I could be wrong though... A pic of my first cross, taken today - shes around 10 years old now & 29" tts, she is much bigger than my two other deerhound crosses, Most first crosses will be 27" or above. What size is dog in your photo? Have a look on the thread at some of the first crosses already p
  12. nice dog but it doesnt look like a first cross to me, have you seen the parents?
  13. Theres no doubting on certain land, a smaller more agile dog will be better on rabbits, that goes without saying and its what anyone would expect. That said, while out "mooching" our biggest deer x is very often first to get to the rabbit, dont know if its age/experience or shes just one of those dogs thats in the right place at the right time, but she doesnt show herself up amongst the smaller ones. I wouldnt use her rabbiting on the land we run nowadays, she is too big to go racing through the kind of woods they run in, and when she does accidentally (out mooching) and she comes across ga
  14. People who say they are too big for rabbits are showing their in-experience a tad...Ive never seen a big dog that couldnt take a rabbit because of its size. Ive also had a number of pure bred deerhounds that took into the high twenties at night, and had a bitch that caught 14 blue hares in one day (and they are just big rabbits) I'd definitely agree with you there. No such thing as too big, if the dog is correctly proportioned it will have no problem picking up rabbits. I have a 29" old first cross that takes them in her stride. She was good on the lamp in her time, though shes get
  15. I thought she'd make around that size CP, she looks very smart
  16. As has been said its best just roasted like you would any other joint of meat. Make sure you put some fat on it though, and baste very frequently to stop it drying out. Give it 15 mins per lb if its a big joint and 20 mins per lb if its smaller, plus an extra 15. Gas mark 5 (190C). Any veg will go with it. It makes a good Sunday roast with yorkshire puds. We'll be having one on Easter Sunday with the family If you think it might be tough (old) you could marinade in red wine the night before you roast it.
  17. the older dog is 1/4 beardie 3/4 greyhound, the pup is out of him, her dam is deerhound/greyhound with a bit of collie way back
  18. I'll be surprised if she makes her dam's size (24") fully grown whin - her sire is 25 - its difficult to know, but her frame isn't big and she is smaller than I expected - time will tell
  19. We had Inca out yesterday morning for a couple of hours ferreting with her dad. It was hedgerows, which made a bit of a change to our usual ferreting, it was a pest control job, so the nets were out, but theres always one or two holes that get missed isnt there Inca mostly stood back and watched but she did get to meet the ferrets and get a bit of a feel for it once the morning wore on. A few photos.. with the hard winter we've had indie's like a big woolly bear.. it was a w
  20. You might remember Inca is the pup we kept back from Nuala & Indie. We had her out ferreting yesterday, learning the ropes with her old dad. Heres a few photos I took of her, thought you might like to see how she is growing. I'll put up a separate post about the ferreting in a bit. Shes 21 1/2 tts now @ 6 months old.
  21. Stormy, I've just been informed that there are - a litter of 4 dog pups, just a few days old by him. When I get some photos of the pups I will let you see them
  22. Id agree with that Cleanspade. This one is JRT x Plummer, the plummer dog being stronger than the JRT bitch sire
  23. nice work dillan, we've been going to a place like that recently, the dogs have to work hard for their rats
