  1. Keeps was it you that had the pic of the dog,rat and ferret pic on the old wpt?(pic of the season?),if so thats one of the best i've seen.
  2. I have mine in a court as well and cleaning them out can be hard work, they dig into the shavings bag,get into the poo bucket and just have to attack the broom when brushing up in there.A jill i have usally leads the assallt and she has learnt to jump across onto me,her name is mischief.I give them a paper sack to play with but they would rather play wind up with me.

    so many antis??

I lived on the road for the best part of 20 yrs and most of them were on hippy traveller sites(for want of a better word),a lot of folks i lived beside were or could be classed as anti's.I had my ferrets and dogs and i worked them to say i've been in a few rows over the years is a bit of a understatement but my sport is my life it's in my blood and will always be that way. Most folks don't know what or how hunting is done of any sort and i've allways tried to educate them rather than argue, but as in the anti world just like the hunting word some folks know it all and can't be told.If folks are
  5. That is a shame mate.I have in the past and will do no doubt in the future well upset some folks by not letting anyone but me take dogs out with my ferrets,i dont care how much they bleat on about how good their dogs are with ferrets. All i know is my dogs are trustable and my ferrets are safe, would ruin a day having a dead ferret and a dog to keep it company in it's hole in the ground.
  6. It's also better than not catching anything and loosing a rig on every cast,of which i've had a few.Where were you in dorset, chesil?.Still you got out there.
  7. This i built for finches but the ferrets took it over first,it has a 6x4 shed on the back of it with their sleeping boxes in.Have to say they love it and it's grand to see them running around playing from my window.
  8. I have a hob and a jill, they are brother and sister and sandy coloured. They haven't been worked but are well ready to,the hob is quite large but nothing silly. They came out of a albino jill with a polecat hob, they are 8 months old.I live near norwich and if you can or are willing to travel that far for them you can have them for free.I'm saying this as i think the world of my ferrets and want a f**king good home for them and if someone would be willing to travel for them then to me they will care for them as well.I do work thier parents and the mother works grand, the father i use as a finder i
  9. NO mate, you may have to be a little strong with him to make sure he knows to leave the ferret alone but not to old at all.Your dog may or may not have chased anything live yet so won't know the thrill of the chase as such so may be easier to break him,but get them drinking milk together out of the same bowl and let them get to know each other slowly.Give them room so the dog can move away from the ferret if he feels crowded as he may snap at it,but let him know you are boss and ferrets are out of bounds. You can put the hutch down so the dog can see them and you can see how he acts with them wh
  10. With rod and line, read about it in a mag a year or two ago the japs come over to net or long line for them though.
  11. Grand bit of fishing spinning for pike and perch, allways try to use a small abu baitcaster rod i have and you can really feel them.Just have to be careful of mates watch straps snapping your line when your into the fish of the day!!!!.Such a handsome fish the perch one of the best looking in the river.
  12. 41 years old and still skateboard in the summer, bit of fishing, some spanish and mexican gamefowl and thats just about it.Dogs, kids and ferrets take the rest of my time.
  13. As above is what i think as well, has he tried her on her own?,or even someone new going out with you can put them off.
  14. I have a large court with a shed on it as well and mine have litter trays down.I tried to put them where i wanted them but some of the ferrets just sh*t where they wanted so i had to move the trays to where they were sh*ting. Some even fouled in the shed so i had to put 2 in there.I have to have 4 trays and they use the nearest one to them,2 indoors,2 outside in the run.Maybe you will just have to use a tray where they want it!.
  15. A rabbit running straight at the dog can be harder to catch, get to the side a bit and choose one that is sat out a bit.Get up as close as you can,get the rabbit running wait till your dog see's it then slip him.Take your time mate,i won't slip my young dog on a rabbit near a hedge, give him every chance to catch while he's still learning.I allways turn my lamp on on the same side and the dog learns to be looking that way straight away,go alone till your dog has learn't a bit and don't take the terrier,it could trip up your whippet and end up with broken dogs. All the best mate.
  16. Caught a hedgehog and they are sods to get out,if you pee on them they open up.Used to use mine for catching phesants a couple of times, put it up across a strip of woodland and walk it through had a few but hard work. Also used it to catch my chickens when living on the road, loads easier than chasing the things.Have caught my dog a few times as well :realmad: !!!!!!!!!>
  17. All the best to you all(been driving all day got the flu and feel to shit to go lamping house full of kids being rock stars on their new guitars) and a happy new year

    Fin Whale

Thats what i was thinking Snoopdog got to be a ton of meat there, shame to see but a bigger shame to see it go to waste.Still how would have a freezer that big?.
  19. Don't be blagged by them mate,i lived on the road for the best part of 20 years and have had run ins from all sorts but don't give an inch.just because they live in trailers don't meen they can move, most don't nowa days.Give them the choice burn or give the dogs back, start with the mothers trailer.I would go to war for my dogs, travellers of all walks of life still bleed like you or me mate.Caravans have thin walls and iv'e seen what a jcb can do to a 20 grand trailer.Best of luck mate in getting the dogs back, not trying to promote trouble but they didn't give a toss about you, they nicked them
  20. Grand fish mate, were they from near the city?.How long do the sea trout hang around for?.
  21. Maybe the whole thread is a p*ss take and a underhand way of putting them down?,are they worthy?.I had to explain myself 3 times saying i wanted to breed the best working fault free litter i can,you tried once and failed and i just want the best chance of succes. If folks think i'm wrong then they know f**k all as thats what everyone should be aiming for when breeding any livestock of any sorts. To change subject on to lurcher pups is undermining and patronising to anyone who is intrested in the thread and loads of hits have been made on this one,i don't mind folks slating me mate and being call
  22. I have a couple of plummers and i would bring them so folks can get a look at them in the flesh and have a smoker,do prefer to dig them myself but do use one when needed.
  23. Thanks huntinggirl kind of figgered that myself, some know best.Shame how folks slate the plummer and every post about them ends in bitching and the slating of a breed they know naf all about, whether they own these dogs or not.
  24. Not all plummer lines are sutable to mix, some carry faults and if mixed you have a chance at breeding fault full dogs who may suffer because of them.So if i were to breed from a unsutable line just on working merrets then i am chancing the outcome, where as if i find a line sutable to put with my dogs then find the best working, fault free dog of that line i am using my head and breeding to improve.Don't want to get into a tit for tat mate, but with the plummer as with all other breeds there is a type and to try to keep that type when breeding is important.Does eveyone breed their bitches to anyo
  25. What i said was i would breed from the best dog with the least faults,to breed on working ability alone and letting the dogs suffer the curse that some faults can bring is not good breeding pratice in any kennel. Most lads with terriers who breed a litter or 2 over the years wont think about faults like undershot jaws and the like and will be wanting pups out of workers that will work, what is wrong with wanting the same working ability but in a fault free dog?.I will wait for the right dog in the future for my bitch and will travel anywhere for the use of him,i wont just use a dog on its worki
