  1. Personally I would write a nice letter to GMk and explain what the shop have offered you. Point out that as the lanber you brought was defective and irrepairable that you would have hope for good customer relations that a new one would have been offered as a sign of good faith.
  2. I just spoke to my vet today about docking his response was along these lines. Vets should not be opposed to docking working breed dogs there is no law to say it shouldnt be done, we would however like proof that the dogs are to be worked or are working strain! (I will ask tonight what constitutes 'proof'! vet said that a shogun certificate would constitue proof of a working environment) We will dock puppies and remove dew claws either at home or preferably at the surgery. Docked puppies will have to be microchipped (again will ask when this should be done! DEFRA say at the same time as
  3. If I were you I would get a couple as they are generally very sociable animals and love to play. Make sure the hutch you have is big enough and give them things to play in and with. As for biting handle them as much as you can more so once they have a full belly as the tendancy to bit will be less. I have never had ferrets that have bitten! [big statement that eh] mine are handled by all the family from a very eary age. At the end of the day you will get out of them what you put in. Be kind to them and they will be kind to you! Good luck and enjoy. ps your bound to get lots of other i
  4. This subject keeps raising its head. Its illegal to dock yourself, hefty fines! Some vets will do it but will want to microchip at same time which is a good idea. I think there should be a national register of vets willing to dock, for the right reasons Perhaps we could start one on here mods eh?
  5. Nice bag and lucky you! We havent had 42 ferreted rabbits all season on our ground. Recon we did to good a job last year! Plus I have heard of a 'flu' virus in Cambs which has decimated the rabbit population
  6. If you wait till young crows are out on the branches it defeats the object, they will have got to that age with bellies full of eggs and chicks!!!! You also lessen the chances of killing the parent birds which will simply nest again. Also there is a differece between crow and rooks! Best to use a 22-250 like a mate of mine does then eh Rooks and crows are all a bloody pest! How to tell the difference! If you see a rook on its own its a crow. If you see a lot of crows together they are rooks! I also bow to you superior knowledge
  7. Without doubt the best time is once the new youngsters are 'branchers' They will just hop about the trees trying to exercise their wing before leaving. As someone mentioned its May time. The young are quite stupid and there is also the chance of the adults as the try to feed them or come back to roost late evening. Had some good bags and sport with the air rifle knocking em down. I remember my dad shooting them and making rook pie out of the branchers breasts!
  8. Get rid mate and get a PCP and a new scope! Springers are old hat! Some love em some hate em, me? im impartial

Overpaid prima donnas all started years ago when Trevor Francis cost 1 million! Mind I just got a similar text!! Such is life eh?
  13. Used to use a ruger 10/22 semi auto on the rabbits. Great bit of 'basic' kit. The yanks love em and there are lots of aftermarket stuff for em. Only problem I had was a few jams mainly due to using subsonics. Having said that if you keep it clean it will work fine
  14. Decoying over rape is usually grim. Big fields and a lot of em for the birds to choose from. Years ago there were bags of 300 reported locally but we found out that the 'shooters' were broadcasting beans corn and the like into the bare patches in the rape to entice the birds! It worked but is not exactly legal!
  15. Hardly been out at all this season due to lack of rabbits on our permissions in Cambs. Last season we averaged around 20 an outing this year lucky if we get 4! Cant believe we did that good a job Dont think its all due to mixy tho did read about a Chinese 'virus' which is killing em off!
  16. On the MK3M collar, if you look close, there is a small arrow marked on it. I think you have to 'stroke' the magnet away from the collar in the direction of the arrow to turn it on and off? [well you do if you use the MK3M locator]. My MK1 will pick up the MK3M collars no problem [if they are on!]
  17. It does work for sure. Had 2 warrens in a meadow on my permission in range of a tree. It had a great place to get to only about 10 feet up. Sat there many a summer evening and potted a few.

  19. If your gonna keep the gun go for a real tree dip! Not cheap but looks the dogs gonads
  20. No many round our way either. Ferrets more like pets than workers! Prob averaged 20 an outing last year this year we have only been out 4 times!

  22. I have in my cabinet a 12g underlever hammer gun by G Newnham. Unsure of its age or origin but the original rib was reused and has the following address G newnham Commercial Road Landport Portsmouth on it. From the www it seems they were in existance 1867 - 1938! It was given to me by my dad and sits unused! It originally had damascus barrels but he had it 'sleeved' some years back by Elderkins of Spalding. It is in proof and is stamped .729 bnp 21/2 cham 3 t p sq" sleeved. It shoots OK has approx 30" barrels [not measured them] The gun is in great condition and would be one for a coll
