  1. used a mates standard 10 22 for years on rabbits only real problem was the occasional 'jam' when using subsonics
  2. Nice quick sale mate!! I got a 8' box i dont need any more anyone wants one. no collars tho! Is working on my MK3 collars OK! Kept it as 'back up' Having said that its tempramental! Recon its the battery connector. £40 will get it posted to you
  3. Bit off topic so sorry. My neighbour has just got back into canaries. Let them into the outside flight for fist time couple of weeks ago and got home to find two dead on the floor! Hes not sure what killed then but has, or rather had, a lilac tree overhanging the flight. So my question is are lilac seeds toxic to canaries?
  4. As has been said Deben have got us by the short and curlies so can 'charge' what they like! It just needs some competition then we would see the 'real' cost of the goods!!
  5. Thanks and was only a very short day started at 10 and was home by 2:15!
  6. First outing of the 'season' today with Chimp. He may have some pics to post!! Ferrets worked real well and we managed to get 17, lost 3 but put that down to the 'undergrowth' not poor net setting Fingers are still tingling from the bloody nettles
  7. The 1st picture was the only one to be shot with a 22/250, the others were shot with a 223, would be great if we could tell how far out the Foxes were going to be before we left home, we could then take the correct calibre, as i have been shooting foxes for over 30 years i think i have earned the right, to say IN MY OPINION the best fox calibre is 22/250, for any distance between 50 and 400 yards. Quite agree mate if you could gaurantee ranges then life would be real easy. I have a friend who was the first person in Britain to make, shoot, and own .22-250 rifle; that was in the late-s
  8. Difficult choice in my opinion. Rough and game personally 1/4 and 1/2 Wildfowling 1/2 and 3/4 or full Best bet is to just get a multichoke so you have flexibility! Just to add another 'spanner' different cartridges will also 'change' chokes to some degree
  9. Nice to see a few less reds about. Mind 22.250 at those ranges is like a sledghammer to crack a nut! You only need a a 22 hornet or .222!!
  10. I got a Caberg helmet with a flip down tint inside the visor all you need to do is put it down when required so best of both worlds! Sure there are others available like this as well.
  11. 20 bore is a great gun mate as said carts not cheap but it will outshoot you! Had a days phesant shooting last year and a guy was using one and knocking down birds I thought twice about with my12 bore! Theay are great for walked up days as well nice and light
  12. Not tried it but have used aniseed before. We used to put wheat in an old [clean] concrete mixer with the aniseed and carrier oil to blend it!
  13. ferreted and gutted we were getting £1.60 Now have a dealer who takes shot frozen with guts in at £1.00 Gonna ask them about the fresh stuff Thay also pay 40p each for fresh pigeons and 30p for frozen
  14. I was decoying with Chimp on his permission and we had a sparrowhawk dive on a dead bird we had set out. It sat there for a bit pulling feathers out, tried to get it on the mobile but was too far off.
  15. I cant believe that someone would be so inconsiderate and shoot Rudolph. If I dont get prezzies this year there will be trouble :gunsmilie:
  16. AA Field cheap!!!!!!!! We are getting ripped off in the shooting world with anything that is 'lead' based!! 12g carts are going for stupid money as are pellets!!!
  17. I got rid of mine recently had it for over 30 years!! Was a .22 and I had refinished the stock cos I didnt like the light colour. It had done me proud, you get used to the 'boing', but one I got my Titan Manitou I never used it.
  18. Good luck lads. These litters seem quite late in the year is it the jills second season? MIne alway have em quite early and, touch wood, dont come into season again!
  19. My mates 22.250 goes a shade over 15lb with one round in the chamber!
  20. Sure there is a few on here who can remember one of these!! http://s117.photobuc...pers-Gibbet.jpg
  21. Right if my memory serves me right we used to set tunnel traps for these on the shoot cos they were considered 'vermin'! Any keeper would be glad to see the back of the bloody things and you have saved 2!!
  22. Def too early to pick at the moment. The longer you can leave em the better but the def need a few frosts on em!!
