  1. nothing but would you like to eat the same thing day in day out if a dog eats to much meat it can effect his running i.e to much protien Deerhoundworking -You are thinking too much mate .Dogs unlike ourselves ,thrive on a regular diet of MEAT,MEAT,MEAT .Its the amount of meat you need to adjust in the diet and not remove it altogether. Off seasons are not excuses to feed the dogs a poorer diet ,just cut down the ration to maintenance. Too much excess protein is wasted on a dog that s not working and passes out the back end ,stressing the kidneys if fed to extreme.
  2. .................................mangey feckers half price.
  3. Personally ,and tentatively because Ive been brought to book on this before ,you cant beat the SIGHT of a pure greyhound on puss .The exsplosive burst of muscle and snapping strike is what coursing is about.
  4. Mole-catcher .You are right there mate.Coursing was the casualty, no doubt about it .The way I see it is that we all know that the tories look after the nobs ,the landowners ,the gentry and if they are doing well ,there is a knock on effect down to the lowliest builder like myself .More work for my blokes ,more time for me in the countryside ,sorted .
  5. Some good advise there lads .Collar it up .
  6. Quality job there mate .Well done .
  7. Shot this vixen whilst out with the .222 last night .It came flying in to a squeak and I could see things were a bit out of sorts as it had the creamy glow in the lamp beam .Weve been lucky about these parts for a long time now,due in no small part to the amount of control carried out .I hate seeing them like this and had almost forgotten what it looked like .This one was called from off a tip where mange was very bad 5 years ago.She was barren . Incidently ,this is my 39th fox since christmas day ,how are you lads doing ? The numbers always seem to swell about now, around us,and mostly vixe
  8. Got to agree with that Millet .The old boy that got me started on most of my hunting used to wreck a small warren with his liner ferret and cord ,a job which requires a single neat hole nowadays. Also the time factor has crept into ferretting nowadays in that people like decent bags of rabbits and as such ,like to keep the ferts moving. Lets not get all nostalgic about bygone ferreting as you can bet that had collars been around then the old boys of yesteryear would have used them as every rabbit was a shilling in the pocket when wages were bad .Anybody CHOOSING to enter a ferret without a coll
  9. The few times Ive looked in there ,I was amazed at how fast things went on ,beyond me .
  10. Im no expert on the subject but I do know that roe dont use the same beds time after time and will often scrape new ones along side if they sleep in the area again .
  11. Excellent account mate .Just as a slight change but still on topic ,they say theres been sightings of raccoons in England .Hopefully they will spread and provide sport for us .
  12. I use the .222 only because thats what I was brought up with.Same results as the other calibres really, carcass wise.I prefer to get them in close so dont know at what range the .222 will still perform .
  13. Ive found that a nice tight bush accelerates the firing of some of the larger tools .
  14. any news from this Sadly mate the owl was killed by hounds -You may have seen it in the sporting press . .
  15. Somebody help him .................................................

  20. it was shot early april last years, but as you no everything i must have shot it out of season NOT, ive seen bucks get culled off peg and guns land in velvet many a times in early april but i must be lying again when im told a buck is causing damage and IT IS buck season ill cull it as soon as i get the chance im not bothered about gold medal thats just me so why cant some people keep there mouth shut or go on another site, because this bickering is a load of bollocks Im fully aware of bucks in velvit being in season mate but you are right ,I do know everything which is why I post on
  21. SHE didnt struggle as much as a good days ratting mate but then again she makes these earths look easy ,as any terrier worthy of a working title should .That big fella of yours would have struggled mate ,as it was a tight tube . Interesting as you seemed to have trenched on fair bit , not something that need's to be done if your dog is right up to his opponent . Maybe just the photo that makes it look that way perhaps . To be honest with you ,my mate had started to backfill when I decided on a hole pic but yes we did trench about 18 inches "Backwards"to get down low enough for
