    Heard a couple curlew last night Mark . Bagged a fox that’s been digging under a shed .Hasn’t got in but only matter of time .Barren vixen thankfully . Heard what I think is a short eared owl but have to research that .Long plaintive call of a bird in flight .Plenty of barn owls about on that perm too .Saw a pair just on dark and 3 quartering together after dark .Too early for fledged chicks so maybe a 3 some going on ?

    Call from the chicken farmer that there’s been a dig under the sheds again .No birds taken as it either gave up or was disturbed but he knows ,I know ,it will be back . Put the .223 and the hw100 in the truck and made an effort to get there before dark .With 15 minutes to spare I drive around the other sheds to my parking spot away from the shed that’s getting the attention and walk to the main event . Round a corner of a hedge thermal up and there’s a fox stood looking at me by the exact spot explained by the farmer .I’m about 250 m away and even though the wind is good hes clocked me .Proba

    Got same set up by a wall and in the middle of our patio mate .We used to have finches galore couple years back . Im going to set up a trail cam to see what exactly is using it as I only usually see it first and last light . Wifes just said Wilts police are going to have a crack down on egg collecting thieves . Only 30 years too f****n late .

    Coal tits two a penny here mate .They are last of the tits to feed if in a group .Blue tits first ,then great tits ,long tails followed by coal if they are in the same flock .Used to have a nuthatch with them but not yet this year . On the squirrel feeder I have which is just peanuts where I shoot them ,nuthatches are there nearly every minute .They must store nuts in crevices I reckon as no way can they eat them as quick as they take them .Fiery little feckers won’t tolerate another same time .Great spotted woodpeckers too .     There’s still sign of mink on the Melksham Avon though Paul as well as otter .I’ve heard that said but the mink can get places an otter never will if it’s fleeing for its life .The otters I’ve caught on cam must travel a huge length of it though as there’s 4 different individuals almost on rotation at two cams 12 miles apart .One is distinct by a fang showing corner of its mouth ,another has a white blaze along its flank .

    I’ve a mate in Coventry that gets loads of finches bar bulls .It’s sad we havnt even seen a chaffinch to my knowledge .We have seed ,fat balls ,and suet pellets plus sunflower heads that just go mouldy . Mate just a village away sends me pics and vids of flocks of green finches on same set up . Hope we don’t have a cat prowling around whilst my back is turned . Pigeons spill the suet for the blackbirds and wagtails .Tits aplenty mind ,even a marsh tit which is why I can justify shooting corvids in the garden with the airgun as they are on the red list .We have pied flycatchers

    Yes Eddie . I do like watching them despite the reputation. I’ve pulled the cam on the river as that’s all I seem to get . Wanted a mink really but only the back end of two swimming . They are soon to divert the river near me to make way for a fecking road bridge . Will be uproar when the local twitchers get wind if it . I was sat in a meeting on another matter when it was discussed . Fecking 1500 houses too .

    I know mate . Never had a single problem with you bud . In fact we’ve a lot in common .Some think it’s perfectly fine to start but can’t seem to find it in them to finish . You know the sort , all mouth and trousers . If you read any thread I’m on you’ll never find me name calling or losing it , it’s all just shit in the wind to me .
