    A line need not originate from breed types ,it can just as well start from two cross breeds .The only criteria is that they produce workers .The concept of breeding two types together in the first place however shows the breeder to not have given it much thought and has thrown two together because they work .Would it not be better to try harder to find a match within the breed and not mogrelise yet another specimen .Only my thoughts mind so be gentle .

    You backtrack mate .Everybody i know has a backup plan .Would be very shortsighted to get to a point with nowhere to go. This is why its important to breed and give away pups on a regular basis .The more limbs to the tree the better the main trunk .

    What does the type have to do with it .Applies to all breeds .Your breeding best to best has a limited life mate but crack on as you know best .Your litters that produce a good number of litter bros and sisters would benefit from being put back to the sire ,lol.

    The whole point of a line is to breed best to best within that line mate .Best to best of this and that can produce good stuff but what then .Its a gamble as many lads know.The lads that have the stuff have foresight as well as the ability to choose breeding stock .Producers of producers are the goal not one off world beaters

    Not at all mate but i do know that x bred to y will produce workers ,no ifs no buts or hopefuls.Your description of your own experiences says it all in buckets so maybe look to your own yard before questions another mans .

    Your need to take 5 and look at what your posting mate .One minute line breedings no good then the next its your thing . No-one in their right mind breeds off a line bred thing if it dont work and all breeding to that branch should cease as well if all the pups in that litter never made the grade also .Your posts ,to me ,took on a path that rubbished line breeding therefore to me you must be scatter breeding .Whatever your doing mate ,good luck but please make it clear as youll find yourself the brunt of more arguing which thankfully has subsided lately .

    All very romantic but 20 quid says a fox is a fox after alls said and done .They vary in size ,length and height wherever you go mate so dont be too disappointed that you are chasing the proverbial .Just an observation based on 35 years of hunting ,shooting up and down the country . Maybe spend your time on human migration ,and how to stop it .

    Funny you should say that ,i went to a bbq once with my now wife and a crazy Welshmen tipped a badger out in the kitchen of the house we were at ,it panicked and ran into the sitting room with equal screams ,crazy f****r .Hopefully some else off here was there and will elaborate lol.Would of been mid nineties .

    I can remember my early days as if it were yesterday,the smell of cut wood in the back of an old escort van where i sat surrounded by all the digging kit and dogs and ferrets if we were ratting .Norman ,Clive and me .Very often it was off to a place by invite to clear up a few for a landowner where we were always treated well ,coffeee ,cakes a dinner if we never had anywhere to be .One old lady who owned an orchard and kept chickens would insist on paying the men but they never took it ,so she bathed the terriers instead ,it was a routine .One place we went the farmer used to scare me .He'd
