    There's a million and one reasons , its not always black and white. From educated stuff that knows the craic to tiny vixens that will squeeze 20ft up a rabbit tube to get away from a dog. If you are saying you get everything, every time.     No mate thats where your wrong .Like I've said I've never quit on a dig no matter how tight it gets .I'm not ashamed to say I've dug a few holes ahead of the dog to get it back on terms .Results are everything ,without it I may as well dig someone's allotment .To be honest I find it weird some accept it as part of the game .

    Im not usually a quitter in fact I hate it .I'd rather have chopped the roots all day but the keeper was having none of it and persuaded me to leave it .It tried to bolt once but young dog on lead put it back in before it bottled under a tree .Was a ratting trip first that turned into a dig after bitch dropped in uncollared in a shallow rabbity spot .I'm not used to a dog not having a result either through it not wanting it or myself giving up so yes it was a low point to end the season .I've never bred dogs for the tight spots and know it was a big ask but given time I would of had her rewar

    Some of the sottish stalkers are very broad but time and the English tip has taught them to speak slow ,lol. Balmoral was my favourite ,I won a trip years ago in shooting times .Shot my beast and was piped off the hill with pony ,garran ,carrying the stag .The piper could of been Mongolian for all I knew ,never got a word but the long pause,expectant gaze when we got to the larder was universal lol.tip time .The pony lad told me later I'd shot my stag on the fell the piper had his first .
