    was a cracking day and a good show to match, great to see proper working terriers picking up the prizes at a working terrier show.

    by and large the patterdale/fell is the main terrier left now for proper digging, the lakeland,border,beddlington,fox terrier, glen etc etc have all fallen to the hands of the KC. there are some working strains left but they are dying out as far as i can see. the patterdale/fell is bred for earthwork not the show ring and long may it stay like that

    firstly,you cant "train" a dog to work, you can only give it the oppertunity and encouragement to do it.if it is in the dog to work then you have a chance of getting a 3/4 year old to work. if its not in the dog then it wont matter what age you try to start him at. best of luck with it anyway .hope you get something to start with.

    sounds like she knows what life is like underground and its not for her, IMO leaving her a year probably wont make any difference.she doesnt want it by the sound of things, i think you will have the same problem when ever you decide to take her back out. it doesnt look good mate.

    my first terrier was a wire haired little jack russell,i was about 13 i think and he was already working when i got him, good little fox dog. this pic from B.PLUMBER'S book is almost identical to him.
