this year i'm planning on buying a bitch pup so i have something to breed out of in the future, providing she makes the grade.
i was planning on getting a bull/grey as i've had plenty of experience with this cross, but i've heard a lot of good things about the wheaton/grey and would'nt mind trying a bitch from this breeding.
so i would appreciate any first hand advice on the wheaton cross, how do they compare to the bull cross ? good points ? bad points, is anyone planning a litter later this year ? has anyone got any pics of wheaton crosses ?etc.....
i know a lad that used to run a dalmation/greyhound (accidental mating) it was marked the same as a dalmation aswell and it made an exellent lamping dog
has shaun left here as i have'nt noticed him on here for a while ?
the reason i ask his a mate came round to mine today and asked me if i could get him some wormers.
he wanted some called eprol (i dont know how its spelled) but said any good quality wormers would do him.
can anyone else on here supply me with some ?
Out again with Tyke and Billy for a few hours.
The night started off very slow without even a run in the first 2 hours then everything went crazy and during the next hour and half they had managed to get 4 Foxes and 2 Roe.
With everything been caught in such a short space of time the dogs had no recovery time so they were absolutely knackered which meant home time.
I could'nt take Beano because he's still recovering from last weeks outing  .
anyway heres a few pics .
however experienced he his, he had to gain that experience, he was'nt born with it was he.so he should'nt have a problem with less experienced (if they are that is) people than himself.
one thing he should know his that there are'nt that many good hunting sites on the net, so if he leaves one every time he has an arguement or falls out with someone it won't be long before he wishes this never started
i only pay for the petrol to do my hunting  , and maybe the odd fine :11:
but i personally don't see the problem with paying to get a bit of sport, if i was into hare cousing i would be more than happy to pay the land owner a few quid to have a days sport, and i know a lot of coursing lads do pay for it. it's only like paying to shoot in a cyndicate or paying for a day ticket to fish somewhere.
so whats the problem with that, i think foxhunter has put some great pics and posts up and at the end of the day he still has to stalk, squeek, or call the quarry before he can even pull th
good post stabs
i've seen some bull crosses work that are exellent at hunting up and lethal around cover when working on there own or with the terriers. i've also seen some collie crosses that have been just as good if not better when it comes to hunting up, but from my experiences i think the bull cross is a shade better around cover, the ones i've had and seen work (on foxes and deer mainly) present and past would'nt hesitate to crash through anything on the slightest indication that something was there.i don't know whether to put this down to lack of brain cells or sheer keeness or maybe
i suppose it's all down to what quarry you intend to use the collie/greyhound for i like collie crosses myself as there steady and intelligent, but i love bull crosses aswell.
if i were you i'd go for whatever you prefer, because your going to be the one looking after and working the dog.
my mate does a lot of coursing and he uses the stopper protectors (leather & wax) but he would put them on the dogs even when walking & jogging so the dog had time to get used to them ?
i've seen his torn to bits after just a few runs with not a mark on the stoppers
