just let me know when you get sorted mate and i'll sort you a couple of good producing pairs out for free i'll be flying in the young bird at the back end of august so i'll let you know how i get on try this site, http://nbra.co.uk/ theres some usefull info and numbers on there
  2. too much sugar in his tea ? hooked on crack ? :11: :11:
  3. my dog Tyke won't bother cats in the street either, the neighbours cats walk right upto him when he's laid in the front yard but when out in the field or on the lamp he's a totally different dog
  4. i think the ministry of agriculture are the only people allowed to interfere with badgers legally but i might be wrong
  5. i think roe are faster than the hare, but i would'nt say they compare on the turning ability. foxes are'nt as fast as either but there not far behind the hare when it comes to turning
  6. i think we should let let ennui join for a couple of days,we could have some fun with him :11: :11:
  7. So they should, I'm thinking of it myself. I've had dogs for 30 years i.e long before the internet, and I will course and lamp will until the day I die, I dont need extra hassle though and if I judge that these sites mean more risk than I care for then I'm gone, at the moment its a fine judgement but I think I will probably check out of these sites. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> well i'm just going to hunt what i normally hunt  so if anyone is bothered about getting caught for hunting with dogs get rid of the dogs before the season starts because one day your luck will run
  8. well if i had to pick a special dog from all the dogs i've had over the years it would be Tyke a collie/bull/greyhound which i still have and use now. he never fails to impress me,takes all quarry with ease, rarely missing anything,a dog i can always rely on to do the buisness day or night. in his first season he caught and killed 21 foxes before he missed one,he's taken loads of roe daytime, with 3 being his personal best in a day which he's done plenty of times, and 4 roe,3 foxes (amongst other things  )being his best lamping tally single handed. hopefully i'll still have a good few
  9. mine only have to learn how to jump and land properly from the subaru, while it's still moving the rest comes naturally

i've got the same dvd and its pretty good but it would be far better if the dogs were'nt doubled up on every fox
  11. who gives a f**k pair of jeans, trainers and a t-shirt does me but if i really wanted to push the boat out it would have to be the "charva vest" :11: :11:
  12. since smoochers has announced that it's shutting down i've noticed theres a lot of new members coming on here, most of which will probably be genuine people, however theres seems to be the odd anti, trouble causer, total dickhead joined over the past few days. i just hope this site is'nt going down the same road as smoochers and i know theres only so much can be done to stop it but maybe a vote for new members might be a good idea now. with the obvious antis etc gone i think the post contents will be far better when the season comes

i heard that it was someone who worked in the photo shop keeping negatives back and passing them onto police,r.s.p.c.a etc but theres that many different storys going about
  14. i've got a copy of "a poachers tales"but its out on loan so i've just dug a few others out like "the working jack russel terrier"by eddie chapman and a couple of working terrier year books 1981 & 1987 and a couple you might be familar with J.D which i must say are exellent but one book that really sticks in my mind from when i was a kid (that i dont remember the name of) was about a boy and his father that poached pheasants by putting crushed sleeping tablets inside raisens (i think) i loved that book at the time even if it was fictional
  15. in the ideal world my allrounder would have - the speed of a greyhound, the turn of a whippet, the stamina of a saluki, the brain of a collie, the height of a deerhound, the coat of a bedlington, and the head and jaw power of the pitbull but they dont exist in the real world so i keep bull crosses as my main quarry are foxes and deer i would agree with kane on his choice of dogs for rabbits, hares etc as i've had the breeds he mentioned but i am unable to comment on deerhound crosses as i have only owned one which was very good for foxes and deer but that had a large dash of bull in its breeding
  16. i dont know about the spitroasting  but if sentenced for not paying the fine it would definately be sqaushed as only compansation is still to pay after a sentence

Des i keep them in there all year round and fly the young birds out twice a day until they have pefected the roll and are working as a team.with old birds its better to fly them once every 2-3 days as they perform a lot better

i prefer rail perches because the birds seem to get a lot tamer on them and they keep the feathers in better condition

my kit boxes are roughly 4 foot sqaure with 3 rail perches and wire floors and i keep around 20-25 birds in each and eventually after removing the crap and adding the good un's i should have a good kit of exactly 20 birds

i know a few lads that swear by the bezzance strain but i have never kept any myself but i can swear by the morris hole stuff aswell as the barrat strain if pure. this year i have introduced some lenihan and kitson based birds and there going very well at the moment apart from a couple that rolled down
  21. a mate of mine who keeps singing birds phoned me at the weekend to borrow my air rifle after magpies attacked his birds which he keeps in individual mule cages, they killed a goldfinch cock, a canary cock, broke the legs on two mules and stripped the flight feathers off the wing on another mule :realmad: he was out while all this happened but it was recorded by his cctv cameras, the magpies were clung to the cages with one leg while trying to drag the birds out of the cage with the other.

tumblers like westies just flick over once or twice but rollers should roll fast and tight with a bit of depth i was told years ago there was some good tumblers about but like most things the show breeders bred the roll out of them because to them type and colour came first.
