Hi I had a good night out tonight not perfect was a bit light even though it was overcast was out with my 10/22 had half a dozen bunnies then to the small field with sheep and we saw a strange thing all the sheep were off to our right as we went through the gate then we spotted a lone sheep off to the left about 75 yards away from the rest and about 6 feet or so to the left of that was a set of eyes low down we first thought it was a lamb so we moved towards it lamped it twice more and it was a fox laying down it looked like it was guarding the sheep so we moved closer lamp on again a

  4. Hi if you look at the CCI site the velocitors are 1435 fps at the muzzle 1230 fps at 50yards 1149 fps at 75yards & 1084 fps at 100yards so in theory if the shot placement is accurate 100yards is possible but unless you are 110% sure you can make that shot i would not recomend it at that distance 75yards should be an easy shot for most of us although longer shots are not beyond the rifle or ammo
  5. Found this on a previous post suitable calibre for cat control The law is quiet catergoric cats are not domestic animals they are classed as WILD, under the road traffic act, you have to report accidents with domestic animals, cats are not on the list! Therefore it is academic if it has just been let out, if it has a collar on or even if it is brushing itself against your legs and purring. Its WILD and belongs to no one, until its dead then it belongs to who ever owns the land it is laid dead on!! there is a part of the theft act which states that you can reduce a wild animal i
  6. If you get a airrifle on FAC how much land do you need for one and does it have to have hills etc for backstops? Hi when i got my fac air rifle it was cleared on 46 acres but not on the other 10 i had as it was deemed too narrow and too flat so all you can do is ask i now have an open licence on my rimfire which i use on all the land i shoot over arcpest

  9. arcpest I dont own one but i have used one a fair bit, they are great on crows and magpies, shot a rat with one once, and even the odd fox as long as the range is sensible, i have found them accurate and the ammo isnt as much as HMR. I think in comparison they are similar to the HMR the plus point being the heavier bullet weight. I also believe they are more widely accepted on the target range than a HMR. Hope this helps ss06 Thanks chap it does what range were you on the crows and magpies? i have put a variation in to get the .22 Magnum barrel for the Sako Quad im getting and

I've never had a problem with mine, some people have had barrels changed under warranty. Hope this is useful. Thanks for that chap arcpest

  19. You've annoyed me Mentoring is a difficult one, it definitely has its uses BUT sometimes it takes the piss. There are two types for me: * mentoring for deer * mentoring for shooting generally MENTORING FOR DEER If the person has no experience, a good idea. There is a lot to worry about when shooting a deer, most of it not concerning the shooting. I know very little, hence why I am happy to have a mentoring condition for it. BUT the mentoring is in the processing of the deer, reasons for shooting, etc. NOT the actual shooting because my FEO is quite happy for me to point the s
