  1. If they are genuine magnums, you've got yourself one hell of a bargain - well done and good luck.
  2. Elegico Squirrel Trap. Mixed feedback - the squirrels tend to trash the trap. Personally, if I had £50 to spend on a trap for squirrels, I'd buy a Kania. Failing that, a few genuine Fenns will cost much less and do a better job than a cage.
  3. Body Grippers for £2 each? I wonder where they were made? You will find they will fall apart in no time at all, and more importantly, they are not approved for use in the UK. The Spring Trap Approval Orders name the makes and models of trap, and the species they can be used for. There is a very good (although dated) video available called 'Body Gripper Basics' which gives some great ideas for sets. It also 'stars' our very own 'Chalkwarren' and 'Snareman'. Failing that, have a search on youtube.
  4. Not really identical. One places a responsibility onto local authorities, the other onto landowners and occupiers. Immoral? It depends on the circumstances. The big difference between rats and rabbits is the disease risk. I would never do it, but I cannot see that it would be illegal.
  5. Legal, but immoral. Also, not very relevant, as the original question related to rabbits.
  6. He was right. You would commit an offence of causing 'unnecessary suffering' under the Protection of Animals Act 1911, and also the Protection of Mammals Act 1996.
  7. As Chris Jones has already pointed out, the fact that the whole of England and Wales is a rabbit clearance zone just means that occupiers have a legal duty to control rabbits to prevent them damaging neighbouring property - NOT that you cannot release healthy rabbits. The act was brought in to force the railways (amongst others) to control rabbits living on their land, and thereby protect our precious food. If anyone can show us a law which specifically prohibits the release of healthy rabbits I will be very surprised. Apart from anything else, until quite recently, wild rabbits have
  8. Pestech 2008 is this wednesday (the 5th) at National Motorcycle MuseumCoventry Road, Bickenhill, Solihull, West Midlands, B92 OEJ Entry is FREE Directions HERE More information HERE Anyone from here going?
  9. Which law are you referring to? Only 'alien' species have to be dispatched. Can you quote the law to which you refer? I doubt it..........
  10. "Achieved something" ? What exactly? When we have a thread about the RNLI just below this, who are being charged for radios, it puts things into perspective doesn't it? I'm sure there are thousands of 10 year olds out there who find that kind of juevenille crap funny, but the majority of the population are not teenagers - they are sane, reasonable people who have morals. If Andrew Sachs had agreed to it being broadcast, I'd admire his open-mindedness (and wonder why he wanted the publicity), but lets not forget, HE DIDN'T! Sack the bloody lot of em. And when they've gone,
  11. To be fair, I would rather stick pins in my eyes than have to watch/hear either of them normally, but if I was unlucky enough to have heard it at the time, I would have complained. As someone has already pointed out, the producer should also resign. This was pre-recorded, and not one of them thought about the impact it might have. For once, the newspapers have done a good job letting the public know that this has happened.
  12. I was just about to post on this very subject..... For those who don't know what the fuss is about, here are the offending phone calls: Personally, I think they are a pair of talentless tossers and should both resign...

    Donators

All this fuss about ten pence each week..... As John says, how much is Shooting Times, Countrymans Weekly and all the rest? Ian has never asked for donations, and as such we should be grateful. I cannot believe that people are so small minded. Lets just crack on with enjoying the forum, and accept that the donation is voluntary, and that if Ian chooses to close his site down, there is a chance you will loose some of your money.

    New forums

Just to let everyone know, hunterlives forum will close down at 9pm tonight, as originally promised. There is only one £$%^&*()_+, and this is it. I'm not sure what plans SportingShooter and WorldHunters have for theirs.....
  15. Ian, Thank you. Thank you for letting me meet so many good people Thank you for letting me learn so much Thank you for putting up with me. But, most of all, thank you for THL. Good luck to you all Matt
  16. That is probably the saddest thing I've ever read on t'internet Ian; but I understand why. It's a shame when things get to this kind of stage, but hey ho, life will undoubtedly go on.......... Dont let the b'stards grind ye down mate, life is sport, and sport is life. Yours in sport (to one and all) Matt
  17. Gosh! A post which isn't about the 'M' word (Moderator or Mark, take yer pick, lol). I know feck all about walking sticks, but often admire the work of some of these very talented people. Whatever happens, is there any chance of a picture or ten of yer results? I've often thought about some of these fantastic sticks you see at shows etc, and wondered how difficult it could be...........
  18. You probobly did the right thing. You may want to shout and swear, but that just plays into their hands. If you were to say anything, I'd have asked: 'Who are the "We" that dont want me'? and 'What exactly is "my sort" ?

    Markbrick!!

Archie As John has already pointed out, Mark has not been banned but he has been suspended, and it wasn't John that did it. I think I can speak for quite a few members when I say that John is a very good moderator, and I doubt very much if 'most people' would want him to stand down. When you speak of 'bull shit on how to rp a foxes tail' I presume you mean the thread where John asked for advice on the best way to remove and preserve a fox brush? What would you prefer? That we all posted about illegal activities and got the site closed down and Ian prosecuted?
  21. We used to get it with the 'clever' antis (I know, a contradiction in terms ) from time to time. They want to disrupt your activities, but do not want to be prosecuted for criminal damage or theft.

    Markbrick!!

Now tell me where I said that Mark was a dickhead? Some lurcher owners are dickheads. Some gun owners are dickheads. Some people who fish are dickheads. Some people who cook are dickheads. I could go on, but it'll get boring. The point is, there is a name for it.... Life! Now get over yourself. Mark may think that this forum is about him and his exploits and nothing else, the rest of us don't.

    BST

Clocks go back one hour at 2am (if you are in the UK anyway). If it's sunday morning and you've just got up.... Go back to bed! You've got another hour of beauty sleep!!

I love lurchers. The trouble is that some of them are owned by dickheads............
