    Markbrick!!

As far as I know, free speech is welcome here, and always has been. What is not welcome is posting shit which is against the rules of the forum, and drags the whole membership into the mire. If you dont like it, feck off somewhere else. This forum is about more than running dogs, and if a few of you cannot accept that rules have been made for the protection of all of us, you wont be missed. Oh, and by the way, if you think the forum will fold just because a few people who are incapable of keeping to the rules leave, you are mistaken.

    Markbrick!!

FFS lads.......... Go back, and read through this thread. If you are still not sure, have a look at the 'conspiricy' thread below. Still not sure? Read the 'PM to all Members' thread pinned to the top of this board. Just in case you can't read what John has written, Mark has been suspended. John does not want to go into it any further Anyone who carries on with this sh1t will be banned. Now what is complicated about that?
  3. One of those little plastic funnels (10p from tesco), and a pouring type bottle. Stop every once in a while and 'tamp' it in with a piece of wire.
  4. I've used both methods of presevation John. I can tell you that the salt method is easier, cleaner, quicker, and results in a better brush... The other thing is to invest in a 'Tail Stripper' from the States. The plastic ones are light and only cost a couple of dollars.

    Is it me?

Brookie, I'll apologise to you because yours was the only quote I could do. I thought THL was about more than just running dogs. Don't we have sections on Shooting Sports, Living off the Land, and many other diverse 'rural life' type subjects? Without getting into the whole 'Markbrick' thing, this site is about more than that surely? Am I alone in getting a bit tired of the 'if you dont hunt with a dog you aint a hunter' type of attitude? Nothing personal here lads, I've owned a running dog myself, but isn't this just getting abit too much lately?
  6. Read the thread below. This person is a member of an animal rights organisation, and was asking people to email and sign a petition. She is either an anti, or a small child with a small brain. Either way, this quest for information about minkhunting has come straight after a plea for support for a dubious looking organisation (foxwatch). Go careful here people...
  7. That doesn't really answer the question....
  8. Whilst I agree that these little fellows can be a menace on shoots, they are great fun to watch, and kill lots of rats and other vermin. I think the problem is that there is a new generation of 'sport' trappers coming on the scene, and while I would like to encourage them, it would be a shame for people to go out and kill them for no reason. They are not difficult to catch; I've picked up a few in Mk6 Fenns set in rabbit burrows. In my opinion, they don't need bait (they like their grub fresh), but a good set each side of a gateway will pick em up.
  9. Have you thought about how you will dispatch any fox you may catch?
  10. Now, before I start this little rant, I'll openly admit that I'm a grumpy old git.... My wife seems to think that saturday evening is not complete without listening to a bunch of talentless wannabes do an impression of a dying cat. Needless to say, I'll not have the crap on in here, so she's relegated to the kitchen to pollute the air in there. I've watched it occasionally in the past (only when I'm in the doghouse for something else), and often wonder why the friends and relatives of these wannabes haven't told them that they have no prospect of being quality performers. Why can't the

  12. I think that HFW has lost the plot a little bit. When you look at Escape to River Cottage, it was about him learning how to live the dream. River Cottage is now just a huge commmercial organisation. You watch the programmes, and they are all about his 'events', which must be a huge revenue earner. I was also surprised he didn't show the slaughter of the ducks, which I believe are some the most ill treated poultry in the world. A bit of a cop out if you ask me. I'm thinking of running a 'Duck out' campaign. I need the money! What happened to the on farm slaughter he wa
  13. It is perfectly legal to shoot a dog, providing no 'unnecessary' suffering is caused as a result. It is also legal to bury pets on your own land - the problem comes when someone does it 'commercially', or the animal is not a family pet (like hounds). I would still advise anyone who needs to have a family pet euthanased to use a qualified and experienced vet, unless, of course, it's an emergency situation.

    Oh dear

I feel a bit pissed off as he was genuinly sticking up for a little lad who he could see was out of his deapth , if it had been a severre kicking my lad had given him i would have wacked the bugger again when he got home , it was simply 1 punch & my lad walked off You could try getting the lad who was being bullied to speak to the head? If nothing else, it may get the punishment reduced.... I would make sure the head is aware of both sides of the story. Exclusion sounds a bit harsh to me.

    Respect

I'm not after a moderators job on here or anywhere else. Been there, got the T-Shirt, and the scars. No thanks....

    Respect

Nothing personal to be gained from me. Except perhaps, a more enjoyable place with less stupidity. Hunting and Poaching share the same DNA? I think not. Just because I like driving, I don't feel the need to drive away from the garage without paying for my fuel....... The law is the law. Even if we don't agree with it. All that I'm suggesting is that people think a little bit more before they post. The laws of libel apply to the internet the same as they do to newspapers, and we all know that this site is regularly visited by our enemies to find little snippets the

    Respect

I'd like to take this opportunity to thank Ian and the team for providing us with this site. I realise that this site costs Ian quite abit of his hard earned cash, and I, like many others donate to help offset those costs, but I fear it is a drop in the ocean. Being a moderator is often challenging - I used to moderate on another site, and sometimes, you can't do right for doing wrong. The team on here do a fine job, often under difficult circumstances, and I often feel that they are undervalued by a proportion of the membership. Just remember you can please some of the people, some

    rabbit lure

I think you are talking about salt petre (spelling!), which is nigh on impossible to obtain these days because it's one of the ingredients in black powder. Ordinary table salt will be fine.
  19. Alluminium Phosphide is a 'poison' therefore different rules apply. If you know of a supplier who is selling this product to anyone who cannot prove that they have been trained, report them to the BPCA or NPTA straight away, and action will be taken. 'Grandfather Rights' only apply to horticultural and agricultural sprays (those are the ones you need PA1 & PA6 for), not public health pest control products.
  20. That, is one of the 'quirks' of english law which is so silly. It is not an offence to buy it, the offence is to use it. The reason is that you may have someone like a purchasing clerk who is legally the 'buyer' and it then goes on to be used by a 'professional user'. We need more information than that. Here are some starters for you: Where is the shed? What is kept in it? How much bait? How quickly is it being eaten? Are there any livestock present?
  21. So, is your 'old man' a professional user? If not, an offence has been commited. If you read the replies carefully, you will see that I have given some advice and information, but for the record, I'll give you one more piece of advice: I believe you live in Hampshire, which is a known troublespot. I therefore advise you to call in a professional, at least to deal with this infestation. If you could give a bit more information about the infestation (the type of property, its location, the amount of time you've been treating), and anything else which could be relevant, we may b
  22. Good points there Joe; I was trying to put the information into simple terms, but thank you for the further clarification. The end result is usually a heamorrage of some sort, and the most likely is the fine blood vessels. I'm less than impressed that an untrained 15 year old is able to buy a professional use liquid concentrate and use it.
