  1. BSA Supersport for me would be a good starter rifle not to sure if the HW30 is powerful enough for hunting possibly a secondhand Theoben Fenman?? Depends how much you want to spend i suppose
  2. My first ferret i ever owned i aquirred from a friend he kept them in a large court which i later called "animal auchwitz" due to the conditions these dozen or so ferts were kept this large poley hob was very aggresive which to me was normal for ferts or so i thought as a teenager. After a couple of weeks of being well fed, clean living conditions & lots of handling with gloved hands he became very tame.In my opinion nose flicking, head slapping, knuckle gagging, etc should really be unecessary unless the animal is beyond taming which is possibly very rare?? But that is just my opinion
  3. A good friend of mine is unfortunately having to sell his 2yr old Harris due to personal curcumstances. The hawk is living in sunderland.Any intrested party please PM me for a contact number so you can speak to the owner direct.

  8. Just read the above im a bit confused.com.I take it by the rest of your quotes on this subject you actually enjoy digging the rabbits out?? I prefer to see my purse nets bulging with rabbits each to there own tho.....
  9. Starving them for 2 days before working them no the wonder there killing & aggresive how would you feel? then being asked to do a days work aswell I always have fed mine before work by the time you get to the first burrows they will have slept anyway & be ready to give you a good days graft
  10. Feeding rats to ferrets NEVER done it & NEVER would.Feed the rabbit they get for you, frozen day old chicks @ £10 for 200 as a last resort cat food.Giving them rats would be neglectful in my eyes why chance the health of your working stock it would be similar to eating a week old kebab out of the gutter.....
  11. Ebay is good for nets i always purchase my hemp nets on there had no problems at all
  12. OH YES must be plague proportions on your shoot mate or have you put a good dent in the tree rats
  13. Can,t see any reason why you can,t put a bit of leccy tape or similar round the battery compartment for extra security.I would think over time the snap connectors on them may become worn batteries are still bloody fiddly to fit tho..... if the transmitter compartment did open you would only loose 2 batteries as either end is fed through the collar as you are aware yourself.
  14. Good days ferretting there lads nice size rabbits aswell
  15. Thanks for the advice lads, the problem is i won,t be able to keep the ferrets in open front cage for the bird to see at my mates looks like it,s a no starter unless he brings her down to my garden on her bow perch for a couple of hours at the weekends
  16. My 2 are 7 months now took them to my proper hunting land they were a bit playfull in the empty burrows soon as they made contact with bugs they sharp knuckled down 3 rabbits in the bag i can,t wait for the weekend to get back up there & i think they are the same...
  17. Morning all,a friend of mine owns the hawk & i own the ferrets(polecat colours) how do we intoduce the 2 together without my poleys becoming casualties .I have read that albinos should be used with a hawk?? Any advice will be appreciated....
  18. That gun looks brilliant Mr Teapot
  19. Have a play around in your local gunshop if it has a good range of spring/pcp guns or do you have mates with guns?? You,ll know what feels right for YOU I do a lot of lamping with my AA s410c its a great gun lightweight, rapid loading & as accurate as i shoot it.I owned a Rapid 7 Tyrolean in the early 90,s fantastic gun, super build quality, bit of weight to it tho when fully scoped up & i was paraniod about scracthing, denting the beautiful walnut stock Just try before you buy if possible......
  20. Always go for a head shot when possible i aim for the eye if the bunny is facing the right way or one in the back of the napper if its rear is facing you.FAC body shots would do the job i think however i only shoot 12ft/lb hence headshots 99.9% of the time.....
  21. Really glad you got her back mike Top trapper as well
  22. Hope you get her back mike i lost 1 myself many years ago found her the following morning not 50 yds from the set looking very confused & hungry best of luck hope you pick her up soon.....
  23. Took my 2 poley jills now 7 month old up to my proper hunting land for their first real outing.First 3 sets plenty of rabbit activity but no one at home came across a new set 7 holer netted up popped them in 10 mins later their first rabbit in the net .Moved to a set that rarely fails to produce nice result 2 in the net left midday over the moon
  24. Just bought a double ferret box from FBC via localish supplier excellent quality & very comfortable for my 2 poleys & myself well worth the ££ in my opinion
  25. On the land i have permission there are a few sets with bolt holes on the other side of the fence we net them just in case up to now we,ve had no problems but theres always the off chance the land owner could have a sense of humour failure however it is very remote & in the winter months rabbits & sheep are the only life up there
