andy s410c replied to tattey's topic in Rifle Reviews, Technical Help and Tips
AA Field .22 in my 410c,hard hitting pellet but the skirts are delicate.Give them a wash & put some Napier lube on them -
As posted previously, don,t feed seagulls to your ferts.Look at where they spend most of their lives, eating off landfill & town centre streets, rubbish bins & any other place they can pick up rotten, discarded food. They are full of samonella & god knows what other nasties:sick:

So much for Capello picking players in form Heskey can't get a start at Villa....the fella's place who he took Darren Bent....24 goals in a Sunderland side that did'nt win for 2 month but he still kept putting the ball in the net. First decent team England meet in the knock out stage(if we get there) it's the old then another 4 years to wait to do it all wrong again

For my referees i used my neighbour & my landowner, as long as you've known them personnally for 2 years or more & their good folk you'll have no bother . What you applying for Mr TP??? If it's rimfire you'll find that nice new shiny HW100 of your's will be gathering a lot of dust....22lr all the way for me for dishing out the lead earings now & Hmr for having a fun, long'ish range session
-
Tidy bag there Stu it's blowing a gale here as well so no shooting for me tonight .The ferts eating the woodie or yourself?? Nice to see the Magpie getting the lead earing plenty on my housing estate at the moment but only the odd one on my shoot, hope to bag one with the HMR this summer...

Great footage Davy The weather was lousy up here too mate Went up my place with the 410c as he's still lambing at the moment so no rimfire till months end .It hailstoned, gusting winds & there's no cover the place is like a golf course so the rabbits would'nt sit first time i've blanked in 5 years.....still it can only get better

I always wash & lube my .22 AA field....does it make a difference for me YES.Perhaps it's the placebo effect but i find you get bits of swarf & crap in the bottom of the jar.For the time it takes it's worth doing & it gives a extra confidence when in the field...don't get me wrong i still miss a few with the AA410C but hey that's airgunning for you
-
Up & at 'em Stu should be out Monday meself with the peashooter...will take a bit of practice tho after using the rimmies the last few weeks......back to 30yds but not for long

Because i'm a member of a shooting club and have a ruger 10-22 which i am paying off weekly as i cant pay for it outright till i get my license, i can use it whenever i want at the club but they keep it there till i get my license . i was on the phone to the firearms dept today and she told me hmr should be fine for fox as it's the minimum calibre for fox. i have only 1 conviction that was for speeding back in 2003, the others were just cautions when i was a kid. Cheers, Liam.. HMR for fox off Northumbria .Personally i would'nt be happy with shooting fox with HMR....if i get land with a

Liam i would be very suprised if you get fox on your ticket with rimfire off Northumbria FLD.Took 14 weeks for my ticket to come through but worth the wait.

Mr TP what the f k are you doing with a HW100 .....I can't believe you sold the AA410 to buy one of them railway sleepers .I thought you were a man of high standards being in the AA410 brigade...looks like the dark side has claimed another victim . Good start for your new HW mate, another 3 weeks before i'm out with my beloved AA410C tho ATB Andy

Used my Hmr with the Sak mod for the first time on Sunday.Yes it's a loud crack but the round is breaking the sound barrier so nothing can be done about that . The shooting times did a article on which mod for my Hmr & the decibel reduction could be measured in single figures between all the mods they tested.....if i remember the Sak came in 3rd so for a £30'ish mod it's good value for the money. Personally for me the Hmr will be a gun to have for a nice summers day, on the bipod, little or no wind & just a couple of rabbits to be shot for ferret food,my .22lr will be the workh

andy s410c replied to davyt63's topic in Airgun Hunting
Davy your still a messer you really need to get off the keyboard & go out in the field .Excellent bit of sport you's lads had & a quality post to go with it . The weather's upside down at the moment up here so it looks like a Easter week end on the cronic for me -
Nice one Stu been up at Allendale meself today with Ace 32(his permission) with the rimfire & hornet...not a rabbit to be had The wind was gusting at least 20mph at times & then the rain came . Another month before i can be up at my place with the pea shooter due to lambing & the lead will be dished out this summer
-
Sorted for the summer's shooting now then Davy? Did he have any of the MTC Taipan's in stock??Quite like the look of them...going to have to travel meself to Northallerton to get a look at one tho . How good to you rate the glass on the Viper at full mag Davy??I would like to put a Nikon Monarch on top of the HMR but i don't have the £££ as i need a rangefinder & other bits & bobs before i can get out with it....oh & the price of the rounds...

Would'nt worry to much yet P...here in Sunderland the old Vaux brewery site has been barren for over 10 yrs Tesco were going to build a mega superstore on it however enough palms were'nt greased(probalies) so don't get to worried yet.....However if it does get built you've still got your legal permission to shoot so just carry on matey because i certainly would

a little advice needed
andy s410c replied to beggsybluestaff's topic in Rimfire, Centrefire & Shotguns
Can't go wrong with the trusty CZ as said the trigger will need sorting as the creep can be bad.Trigger kits from Rimfire Magic are a doddle to fit & make the trigger spot on.As a workhorse on the rabbits a .22lr will do the business all day, most people use them out to 50-75yds max. Zero the gun in for 18yds & the gun will be spot on for up to 50yds.Mine prefers Winchester subs which cost £35 for 500(no doubt the price will have went up),Eleys are a good round which cost a couple of quid more,CCI rounds did'nt cycle properly in my Shilloutte however they did group well when they d -
Been looking around for a scope for my Hmr,i know what i would like...however the budget ain't going to make it .I like the look of the 4-16 x 50 Taipan which is the new "Viper" with a add on or two .Any feedback from you fella's on the MTC scope range is welcome...cheers Andy

.17 Hmr Varmit or American
andy s410c replied to Blacksheep's topic in Rimfire, Centrefire & Shotguns
Personally,i could'nt see the advantage of the extra weight of the varmint...i would think most HMR shooting is either done on a bipod or from a 4x4 so the rifle is steady enough.I've just added a 16" American to my armoury, had a play with the varmint but it was to heavy for my liking with me having noodle like arms . The shorter barrel does'nt have much FPS difference not that a rabbit would notice anyway. However it's what feels right for YOU -
As previously posted you don't need to spend a fortune on a scope for a .22 rimmy.A scope in the sub £100 bracket will do the job.A Hawke 3-9x50 was fine for me but i managed to get my hands on a mint 3.5-10X50 Simmons WTC which is a better optical quality scope. Have a look around & see what you can pick up second hand for a good price
