Its 2012 bird. I would have thought people would have got the point maybe in the early 80s that greyhound blood is no longer needed and actually detrimental to your hunting dogs.
Thats one hell of a dog right there. I'd love to see that someday. I stand by what I said though. Using a modern day greyhound in your breeding is going backwards and fast.
That greyhound blood aint no good for huntin dogs. I will argue that point til I'm blue in the face. Nobody has shown me yet that I am wrong bout that. I've heard all the talk but none of it has been shown to me in any way.
skycat,
I dont wanna sound like an argumentative f**k but I run my dogs in the woods all the time and I know others that do the same. I aint sayin they are all suited for it but I dont want the ones that cant handle it. I've had quite a few of them that couldnt do it but I wont keep that kind. That being said maybe my shit eaters aint as fast as them "lurchers" you speak of.
I've bought alot of dogs over the years. Never sold one cuz I never could find its replacement but then I bought a dog off of a good friend and it was damn sure worth it.
Oh ya and I also bought the best dog I will ever own off a fella who was a damn good friend at the time. We dont talk no more but I aint sure why.
I've said it before but I'll say it again, "With dogs like this over there, why in the hell would anybody ever breed to a greyhound again?" You want to put speed into your lampin dogs then look no further.
Stunt off here bred a litter like this a long while back. The dogs I seen pictures of(believe I seen two, black and a fawn)anyhow, the dogs I seen pictures of were big strong lookin suckers that looked like they could have ran for days on end.
I had a wolf hybrid when I was in my early teens. Well, it was actually my little brothers sorta but anyhow.........he was a very submissive type dog and not something that would throw himself into trouble of any kind. As a matter of fact he would literally roll over on his back and piss on your boot when you'd go to let him off his chain. Once he was loose and runnin around the yard he was a very friendly type dog and would play with ya all day long. He was a fast sumbitch too though. We'd road him along side the truck and he could hit just about 35 mph which is incredibely fast for a do
Pup i bred and kept has been like that from birth. I brought up the litter and the only one like this was the one i kept. While the other pups were jumping up at new people he would keep back. You can't socialise a pup that doesn't want to go to other people.
Some dogs cant never be "socialized". They are just culls. You can mask their shitty temperments but it wont ever truely go away.
If you want a dog like this I would recomend gettin a coyote dog x jack rabbit/hare dog. I think you will be years and years ahead of what you are askin bout.
There is so much truth to that and......................the real prolem is that sometimes it dont even show itself until you breed again. I love to cross breed dogs. Its a friggin blast but I can tell ya that its almost impossible to know whats goin on when you do so but I still have fun with it.
Lets start over so you dont get your panties in a bunch fella. This statement right here is bullshit. If I had a whippet and said that I was taken 200 pound bucks with it and made some bullshit statement that size does not matter as long as the dog has try. You or somebody else on here would surely call me out cuz it would be bullshit just as your statement was.
big difference between 1 1/2lb rabbit and a 200 lb buck best keep the bullshit to yourself
No shit genius? Big difference between a 100 pound deerhound and a 35 pound whippet too.
