  2. Hi Jack, I've never seen a Bedlington working, just wondered as a breed what sort of digging temperament they have? Are they bayers, mix it or very hard? I know all breeds have dogs with different temperaments but just wondered.

    lamp

Can I ask why you don't think the lazerlite is any good for foxes? I've got a lazerlite lamp with cluson belt pack, fine for any lamping in my opinion
  4. We have had a little rain tonight but not much
  5. Flusher would not be a wise choice of name with some of the urine extractors on this site
  6. I've got a couple more on the camera, i'll put them on tomorrow
  7. Cheers Taffy, first time we have used it, normally spades and smokers. Didn't half save some back ache from a days digging. Not sure how the farmer would react if you brought one on a proper dig   :11:
  8. Looks a nice dog Merlin, what percentage of collie and who bred her?
  9. My first terrier was a Plummer and when we ratted we only used ferrets and I prefered it to digging or using a smoker. Much more peaceful and quieter than a smoker engine and theres something rewarding about you, ferrets and dog working as a team. Nowdays I rat with friends and although my bitch is around other dogs, cats, livestock all day, theres are fiery with each other, cats and anything that moves so I wouldn't put a ferret down, I wouldnt risk them getting chopped. Your dog MUST be 100% broken to them and have daily contact before ever going out hunting
  10. Whereabouts in Lincolnshire are you Tagwag? I know of a couple of places that I have bought materials from in the past for building enclosures and aviaries
  11. The vast majority are caught by the dogs, the odd one or two escape down other holes and can't be dug or bolted. Need a few for next time
  12. Me thinks you could be right Jordan

    Site Move

I think you are doing a great job Ian, for those of us who can't get out every night (I've just read the hungry catapilar for the 50th time) this site lets us exchange views and have a good craic.
  14. Thanks for the replys boys, some rats decide to stay in the warrens, a few die, others either hide underground or bolt and take their chances. We use a leaf blower aswell but have more success with the smoker, putting the blower in after the smoker gets it spread around. Digging to a dogs mark is good teamwork but the tractor did make things a little easier Pan i'd love to get the action shots you do but most of the time the photos are pretty crap
  15. I took this photo in the new year on a huge forestry plantation. The only water near by is a tiny brook, less than 10 inches deep and only 5 feet wide! The tracks had what appears to be a tail dragging through the snow. Could this be an otter? or does anybody else have any ideas
  16. These are a few photos, i'll keep trying to add more More I really am crap at posting photos, this has taken ages more Earth was moved by the farmers bucket, saved a lot of time We ratted at two spots, either bolting them with a smoker and leave blower, or we dug them with spades and later with the farmers tractor. The bottom picture is of my 8 year of Patterdale direct from Brian Nuttall, shes my pride and joy, perfect temperament.
  17. Nice looking dog Pete, the picture of health and fitness
  18. Sounds like a possible dental abcess
  19. It's so scary the way this country is being run, how long before we are told what breeds we can own (DD Act), how many, when to breed etc :realmad:
  20. Went to the vets last night after my dog developed a limp on Monday. When he was about a year old he fell down the stairs and landed akwardly on the laminate flooring at the bottom, this resulted in x-rays (nothing visable) and anti inflammatory injections for a month, this along with one month in a crate ( all fine since). This was almost a year ago and because of this the vets has pescribed Metacam and wants to x-ray again, don't think that they know but she has suggested possible damage to the knee and even possible arthritis due to the earlier damage, the dog is only 23 months This
