  1. Been trying to post photos but error keeps occuring telling me the photos are to big. Can anyone help and tell me to how to resize them
  2. Out the other weekend, ten men with ten dogs, a mixture of pats, lakelands and border x lakelands ratting alond dykes around game bird feeders. Small bag as the council came and poisoned them the week before
  3. I prefer the collar as I'm a lazy git and can't be arsed to walk down stairs. :11: Trouble is that sometimes the dog shuts up as you come down the stairs and then you're standing around with a bucket of water at 3am waiting for the dog to start again. The collar doesn't require you to leave you're bed or even wake up, you can pick them up for less than £60 and no wet bedding to dry next day. Dog doesn't associate negative reinforcement with you as there is no command attached, dog barks=shock, dog stops barking=no shock
  4. Just a thought but what sort of land do you hunt, how much do you have access to and is game plentifull in your area? I have always struggled for land and at the moment work a mixture of heavy cover and large arable fields. Quarry is thin on the ground where I hunt and this week I have lost my best ratting permission as the buildings were demolished.
  5. Get "one of those collars", but get the anti bark, which doesn't need a transmitter but works off vibration. I think they work much better than the spray ones. These are perceived as the humane method, I would prefer my dog to get a sharp shock (levels are variable) than citrus sprayed into it's nostrils. As HBG said, got to be cruel to be kind, eight months is beyond a joke and wait till the neighbours have had enough and start complaining. JMHO Simoman
  6. Please tell me this is a wind up? Bull's were banned because the goverment panicked and brought in a totally unjust and rushed piece of legislation, to call bull x's mad and unstable shows what little contact you have had with the breed.
  7. I think we all have a responsibility to do everything to help our terriers. They give us 100% and we should do the same. Think you find out who you're real friends are when something like a lost dog is involved. My Patterdale ran after a fox and disapeared in a field riddled with earths and warrens, had no idea where she had gone but within an hour I had a collection of friends and family all willing to spend their time helping to locate the dog, we spent two days trying different earths before she turned up three days later a little sore but ok. P.S. I don't think any of us are scared
  8. I had a Plummer (Rocky/Summerbird) from Curtis Price in 1991, I was only a teenager at the time and worked the dog with my ferrets for rats and rabbits, the dog was also used to either catch bunnies in cover or push them out for my collie. The dog bolted many foxes from pipes at the local ironworks but was never dug to. I was very happy with my bitch until she died aged three from meningitis. I do like Plummer terriers but can't comment on them as digging dogs as my foxes always bolted from pipes, not deep earths and I currently have a Nuttal bred Patterdale who has sold me on the breed.
  9. Buy me a Bellman and Flint and i'll be your friend Jack :11:
  10. Cod liver oil is a good source of vitamins A and D, but can contain a lot of vitamin A which can be toxic to dogs. Dogs will naturally absorb vitamin D3 from the suns UV rays and dogs can get vitamin A from fresh liver and egg yolks. Cod liver oil can also interfere with the absorbtion of Vitamin E. If you do feed cod liver oil just do it weekly. Omega 3 fish oils contain all the essential fatty acids for dogs, adding powdered viamin C will help the dogs system cope with stress. Cheers Simoman
  11. Stands for either, Biologically Appropriate Raw Food or Bones and Raw Food. The diet is supposed to be more natural and heathy.
  12. same hear matey will run owt catching another matter.stick across a grew or other way round if its keen enough you will have the best of both worlds as long as its got a straight back of course not them slopey backed hippy types <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Mine are fit, one is 70lb 25in, the other 60lb 24in. Both small and light from European working lines. Just started lamping younger dog, very quick learning to look down the beam and fast enough, but only had half dozen runs, no catches as the dog needs to learn, loses lots of ground when he realises the rabbits actually turn :11:
  13. Chicken wings are better, add fresh veg to the diet, or blend it and store it in the freezer. Omega 3 fish oil (not cod liver) should also be addedd to the diet. My dogs have been on the BARF diet for years and look much better.
  14. Used to lamp with a border collie, now having a go with a GSD

    big cats

Yeah, i Know Dalby Hill, used to work at Manby. Saw mine at Laughton, lots of sightings soon after, we had armed officers looking in the woods. Also know somebody (reliable) that told me of a black cat killed by a car near Hemswell, police apparently took away the body.

I saw a puma in Lincolnshire in 97, definately not a deer, chow chow, domestic cat, fox, badger or trick of the light. This was in daylight and my body was free from alcohol (I think) and drugs. Used to take a lot of interest in sightings, there have been several captures and cats killed in Britain, a jungle cat in Hampshire, a puma near Inverness, a Lynx shot in Suffolk in 91 and many more. Think most people who do see something keep quiet cos of p*ss takers, I know :11: :11:

    Top quality as usual
  20. No worries mate, no matter how many dogs you train you always learn something new and still make mistakes
  21. Nice pics, looks like you had a good day, be honest though, you were going for the black and white photos to look arty :11: :11:
  22. Did anyone watch the programme tonight? Showed a pair of owls that have been successfully rearing chicks in North Yorkshire for the past 8-10 years!! They were keeping the local rabbit population in check, Eagle owls were also adding buzzards to the diet  Never knew we had them in this country, seen Golden Eagles and Ospreys in Scotland and they were amazing but to think of Eagle Owls a couple of counties away is amazing
