  1. That looks good apart from mixing the veg in  I've just had frre range Lincolnshire pork burgers in a bun with fries
  2. I used to use ferrets for bolting rats and found it much more enjoyable unfortunately my friends terriers can't be trusted with ferrets and mine is a bit iffy after being attacked by a jill at 8 weeks(she has never forgotton) so nowdays we use a smoker but you can't beat ratting with ferrets
  3. You would be far better off contacting the moderating team via pm than posting this as a thread which will only p*ss them off
  4. My first after school job was walking a kennel of pits, they were all very people friendly and most were good with other dogs although I never let them run with strange dogs. I have been training manwork dogs(GSD's, rotties, malinois, collies, labs, bouviers, pointers etc etc) for years and 99.99% of these dogs could be handled by anybody. I worry about BSL as its the owners fault most of the time for choosing and keeping an unsuitable breed in the majority of bite cases. I cannot imagine how the family of the baby are feeling
  5. I have had a GSD cross numerous times, usually when manwork training I am stuck trying to make do with a GSD instead of a lurcher, the dog has good feet, stamina and is fairly agile, started him on the lamp end of last season and chases more than he catches and he is a light fast shepherd (60lb)I would be intertested to see what a 1/2 or 3/4 bred dog would be like.
  6. Does anyone one if the video made by the Fell and Moorland WTC ever got released??? Ta Simon
  7. I agree you get out what you put in  Any particular reason you prefer dry food?
  8. I enjoy shows and its a chance to see different dogs, have a natter and buy the odd bit of gear I've attend a few shows over the years and my first terrier often won the racing but she never went in the show ring as it wasn't for me, my current bitch is 9 and has been entered less than half a dozen times. This was when she was a pup and more recently in the veterans class and then only because my three year old likes the rosettes and she is her favourite dog. I feel a plonker in the ring
  9. Hi Millet, This guy isn't thin and had a dogdy dye job Simon
  10. Tell the truth you were looking for an agility club to take your dog to
  11. I'll take two Moll :11: It looks like you have managed to add to the mixture a blend of dogs that will complement each other although I would like a touch of wolfhound to add substance and size and bedlington or afghan for the soft coat
  12. :11: :11: :11: Your right Molly, gundogs are sold on at various stages of training, the same with sport dogs, trained dogs are imported for both breeding and competition and also dogs trained for security work. I can't have another dog at the moment but I have seen some of the adult dogs offered by people (turk, HBG) on this site who obviously work there dogs hard and think "i'd take that if I could" P.S. Molly, i'll work on the CWA add
  13. At the end of the day these should be primarily working dogs and the entering of shows should be taken with a pinch of salt. All this longdog/lurcher crap, I was talking to a guy yesterday and asked the breeding of his lurchers, one was collie based but then he proceded to tell me the other dog was a saluki/whippet/greyhound mix and was not a lurcher but a longdog and how it annoyed him when people called it a lurcher blah, blah, blah, the funniest thing was he told me he didn't work them as it was cruel, at which point I walked away Shows should be taken as fun and when it becomes all a
  14. Molly whats the "surprise" in tuna surprise
  15. Your dogs are missing out then nipper. Mine are fed on chicken wings, beef and tripe mince, rib cages, minced chicken carcases and pigs trotters. I tried various brands of complete eukanuba, beta, omega etc etc but my dogs have thrived on the BARF diet and I would NEVER go back to dry foods
  16. Hi Foxdropper, Do you think the problem with other dogs is due to lack of socialisation or hyped up prey drive? Cheers Simon
  17. After reading articles about working ex-racers I was wondering (i'm bored at work  ) has anybody worked a ex-racer or retired courser in the field and had any success? Are they prone to injury and are their feet problematic, also are they difficult to break to stock and small dogs or is this a myth? Cheers Simon

    4x4 MPG

Next year I'm thinking of trading in my estate and getting a 4X4, now i've driven landys, navaras etc and like the idea of having a cab for my famly and a separate area for the dogs as the amount of dust, hair and crap that cover my seats and dashboard is annoying A couple of my mates have navaras and when i ask them about fuel consumption they haven't a clue so could you 4x4 owners tell me the mpg on the following cars i'm looking at please Nissan Navara lwb Shogun Ford ranger Ta
  19. As a youngster raised on books by Plummer I always read his comments on buying a trained or adult dog and believed that only people who were lazy or unable to train a dog bought adult lurchers or terriers. Thankfully I have grown up and developed my wifes ideas .......sorry I mean my own ideas and if I wanted a dog and an adult became available I'd take it. I was wondering how many of you that have owned memorable/great dogs have bought them as pups, bred them or taken them on as adults? Also when you have taken on an adult dog have you had any shockers
  20. I got this book at the Midland and can honestly say I loved reading it. It gives good information on the background of the deer species found in this country and also gives lots of information of the location and prefered habitats. An excellent buy for any deer enthusiast
