Would agree with some of the positive critisism, i think on winter nights when its darka nd pissing it down you would wish there was a door to enter the pen, as moonlighter said, crawling through a flap after clearing up piss and shit wouldn't be pleasant. Also you need to have easy access to be able to properly clean the kennels, also if you don't life the wood it will rot and you wont be able to adequatly wash the runs out as water will hit the wood and run back into the run........

Quite possible, i went for a nice walk in Norfolk several years ago with a member of here, the wood contained numerous adders and grass snakes and said member used to work with the springwatch people to provide snake "hot spots", we found a large grass snake, they rarely bite but do produce a nasty smelling musk when alarmed...........

Seen a few adders in the local forest, unfortunately a fair few get run over basking on the country lanes in summer, also seen them on the grouse moors in Sutherland. Grass snakes are never far from a water source, plenty on a stretch of canal i used to walk.............

So, going on from that, what are your reasons, bearing in mind my requirement to have a 'breed' that would be challenging to train, a companion and yes, something different. I would like advice on whether a Lurcher type dog could fit in with my way of life and maintain my interest in and love of dogs. The dog would be expected to accompany me and my Spaniels, joining in, in the collection of any ground game, during our daily walks. Accompany me and my dogs on the local rivers and whilst I was fishing, patiently wait until I moved on and finally accompany me on a few shoot days. I
