  1. Kye doesn't know that I have a CD player rigged in their run and have Toby Keith on a loop
  2. lurchergrrl bring your man, leave the girls with your mom and come over for a couple of weeks! Or leave your man with the kids and bring your mom
  3. or Snow White and the 7 Dwarves
  4. no alligators for probably 1,000 miles thankfully!
  5. Lynx are up in the north, Kye had a bobcat with a terrier in the desert and we've seen them here in the midwest while driving through woodland, but no runs on them. Uphill Doc has had plenty I believe?
  6. like the one where they are all (bar one!) laying down, all look happy and healthy!
  7. I just wish they were a bit bigger
  8. Roberto starting late summer (depending on weather) a few miles a day, increasing every few days (depending on how they are responding, looking, acting, feet etc). So say I start September 1 at 2 miles, by October 1 I would estimate I'd be at about 10 miles. From there we are ramping up the mileage more quickly, so by the 15'th they'd be at that 20 mark. Around here crops come down (weather depending of course) sometime in October, which is why we are in close contact with the farmers to make sure we aren't taken by surprise with unfit dogs. The dogs we haven't conditioned like that in the
  9. any new dog/pup that comes on our yard gets a jab, just for peace of mind.
  10. disconnecting the doorbell is like removing the stove from the kitchen because your toddler grabs a hot pan ... if it isn't the doorbell (or the stove) it is going to be something else. that being said we have used staplers many times with great success for CERTAIN injuries such as easy clean barbed wire tears. But I have seen the results of poorly stapled injuries so am agreeing 100% it is not to be done lightly. A lot of people slag off vets but they DID go to school for a long time to learn and some are very very good.
  11. at the peak of getting ours fit for the season they are doing 20-25 a night, but we have different dogs and different ground than you guys do.
  12. Feather (staghound) will bring me anything She brought me this manky snapper carcass ... nas-ty! a coon skin that Panda is one of her favorites Kye was tired after working on the kennels yesterday but Feather thinks showing off her retrieving prowess is more important than his beauty rest
  13. When Tor was bred we talked about how many pups would be ideal .... Kye had a list of about a dozen people who wanted them, and most wanted multiple pups ... obviously that was never going to work, so we counted out what would be ideal and what wouldn't overtask Tor (or us), and what do you know ... she had the 8 we "ordered". Funny how that works, eh? The "runt" is the little silver colored bitch that Ben picked, he's called her Turbo and she was my pick from the beginning so I really look forward to seeing how she comes on. Kye is keeping the big silver male he wants to call
  14. thanks guys, they are growing like weeds and coming on well. Yesterday we gave them their first jabs, wormed, weighed ... Kye and Ben picked the pups they are keeping which has been a daily discussion since they were born, seems it changed everyday. Ben made me laugh when he said he'd finally narrowed it down ... to 4 pups! He had to have a bitch and there were 6 bitches to choose from, so he'd only knocked 2 out of contention We could have had 3 times as many pups and still not had enough to go around, lots of high hopes hanging on these little shits.

    help

hmm I only got it on avatars and pics, not emoticons ... sounds like something different than what I had! PM IanB and he might be able to help you
  16. there are quite a few Canadians on here who should be clued up, they'll be able to answer most if not all of your questions. One thing I do know is that a 6 hour drive to the US border is nothing in terms of Canadian travel, I believe you will have to be looking at more like 10+ hours to get to the true rural interior. We know a woman who lives in "Penny" (I think) and they only have train service 1 day a week, extremely rural and it isn't really that far in.

    thunderstorm

we get some pretty wild weather around here, I thought for sure a couple of these storms were going to form tornado's! These are a few from this spring. It is pretty flat around us so anything that looks like a mountain is NOT, it is the thunderhead June May- This one acutally formed tornadoes in the counties on either side of us ... talk about dodging bullets! April Better than Earthquakes though!
  19. I don't know much about it but I believe that Canada has very strict firearms laws, not much different from the UK. Border Crossings with firearms is a nightmare etc.
  20. Pic from 6 weeks old Add 2 pints of water to this yum eating makes them tired
  21. we have a pond at our place, very deep and not too cold. When we bought this place the pond was not a big deal to us, being rural and a lack of neighbors is what we liked. But now that we have the pond and enjoy it as much as we do, I can honestly say a good water source would be at the top of the priority list if we buy something else in the future. Yesterday everyone joined in the fun! feather is still learning how to NOT drown!

  23. he wasn't as much of a cock as he's been the past 4 fights ... someone must have talked to him, or maybe the beating he took made it sink in? And I am sorry but just because someone is a hunter does NOT make him a guy worth respecting ... some of the biggest absolute wasters I know are hunters.
  24. get rid of one, my life became so much easier without a fighter on the yard!
  25. the program said she had swallowed some and that her esophagus was really damaged ... I can only imagine what unforseen medical problems she'll have down the road. If you get esophogial cancer from smoking can you imagine what damage the sulphuric acid will lead to inside of her? How easy is it to take everything for granted, what is the saying "live each day as if it was your last"? Too too too true Speaking of that, I'm on the way out for a walk with the dogs, I'm going to enjoy the day!
