  1. when is her birthday? Does she have any hobbies or just normal teenaged stuff?
  2. good old bleach ... just air out the area with a fan for a bit afterwards to speed drying and aid in ventilation. Bitch can go out in the garden for a spell and pups can be kept in a crate while it dries and airs.
  3. how many different ones do you have? Do you do more moths or butterflies? And what is a good identification site online that I can look for things I see around here? We see all sorts and I never know what they are, the only caterpillar I can identify is a Monarch because where I come from its a well known protected species. Oh and those tomato horn worms, I know what they are!
  4. is it a pair or family or just 1? I've never seen one in person!
  5. ah forgot rabbits, we have them everywhere! Very few fox, I've not seen one near us in 4 years, Kye has seen them further away from us. Closest jackrabbits are over 3 hours away
  6. squeaking in like a rabbit but they are curious and will come in to all sorts. In our area at night we normally see coon, opossum, deer, ditch cougars, dogs, skunk, ground roosting birds, toads ... thats about it
  7. he just likes to make people think he is for some odd reason
  8. they come in when called very easily unless they are wise and then you'd better drop the dogs quick. In our area they go up to probably 22-25 pounds commonly although they can be bigger, some areas north 30-35 pounds average. They drop weight over the end of the winter and are smaller in the spring, a big late fall coon preparing for a long winter is about the biggest you'll get.
  9. Top Lamper coon are a bit odd and very different from anything else IMO ... a big coon can be sluggish and slow, or it can be an old experienced evil cretin. The little coon often fight more but they also are easier to dispatch simply due to size. If you have a dog trying to fight a coon, the coon will (and I say will because they WILL) damage a dog. Noose had a small nick on one ear, that was it. Feather had a scratch on her nose, her squeal was more out of surprise than anything. A dog that grabs the "ass end" it a lot more likely to have it's "ass" handed to it. A coon that lays on
  10. I was VERY pleased she'd gone back into it right away, it was like the first time when I'd gotten bucked off my horse as a kid and I got right back up before my dad had to tell me to get back on, he was proud of me and I know how he felt now! All of the other stags I'd been around (5 I've lived with, been around a lot more than that) are very very gutsy and not much puts them off, Feather is a bit more "sensitive" than any of the others. If you were to tell me that Noose was the staghound and Feather was the SalukiX, I would not be surprised. You are right, Noose didn't growl at her unti
  11. I used to think that an hour twice a day was enough, and maybe for some it is, but for my SalX it takes twice that.
  12. brand name Head and Shoulders is the best, don't buy the generic/store label type even though its a lot cheaper. It will hep with fleas/ticks as well as really thoroughly cleansing the skin and hair. make sure to rinse very well, when you think you've rinsed enough, rinse another 3 times!
  13. Feather is the white one on the left (staghound), Noose is the black one on the right (salukiX). They are both about 26"
  14. My staghound Feather is about a year old now, and the lightswitch has flipped with her loading up on the flatbed for spins out to see what we can see. Amazing what feeding on the truck for a few days will do to change a dogs attitude about something! Kye and I decided to take a quick spin out last night after a heavy rain on the gravel roads running along our heaviest permission. Now I'm sure that the things I get excited about wouldn't phase some, but Noose and Feather are the first running dogs that I've had from small puppies so I "feel" so much more about their successes and failures.
  15. fishslayer you've done well with him, nice looking dog!
  16. you will see if they eat the shell they just digest it, you'll see it in their shit. For the dog to gain nutrition from it you have to dry out the shell and blend it into a powder. We have chickens and therefore a large amount of eggs, I only eat the whites and Kye only eats 1/2 of the yolks due to dietary reasons so our dogs each get a couple of yolks a day in their with their food. Noose manages to steal a few eggs a day and eats the whole thing, others just lick the shell clean.
  17. Fishslayer what lines is your bitch from? Looks just like Kye's bitch Tor
  18. Terence have you noticed them getting bolder with each encounter?
  19. Can you imagine how lame that white dog must have been afterwards, or if it even ran again?
  20. Doc I THINK it's one of JW's stags, J will be able to say for sure
  21. Johnny Grace was a firstX bull/stag, we have a daughter of hers called Loca (Crazy) that is 1/4 bull 3/4 stag, maybe UphillDoc, Hoss1 and whoever else has the littermates can put up pics? I'd like to see some new ones anyway! Bird our vet recommends annual rabies vaccinations due to the very regular contact all of our dogs (even my pet dogs) have with anything from coon to skunk to bats. So he comes to the farm once a year and jabs them all for about $7 each. Some people jab every 3 years and even some nutjobs don't jab at all due to the stigma growing about vaccinations. But sorr
