Never had one. I borrowed one once. Tried it and removed it. Drove me mad. I'm the same with any kind of stick arrangement. I shoot off hand or use natural stuff. My recommendation is a regular offhand plinking session with what ever you can.

I use to shoot in the crook of my arm as you describe but went all modern a few years ago with a scope mounted light ?, how 'with it' is that ?

#22 pheasant this season was taken today with my small muzzleloader. It was a lovely day, out of the cool wind the sun was hot! The rabbits are thinking of breeding now and are in top condition. I worked my way along a bank of scrubby hawthorn and brambles and got in amongst a group. I held out for a buck and ended up with a perfect specimen. This .45 is deadly with just 50'ish grains of powder and near 3/4oz of shot. SD.

Not my size. Need a wool jumper underneath.

I did use the terrain the best I could but eventually had to keep a straight line towards it. Any sideways would of ruined the approach. Your absolutely correct on all counts mate ?

Do you know what, I bet the components of these expensive cartridges are no different than a cheaper line and that they are simply tapping into folks belief that " more is better".

Three hours I've been chasing foxes tonight! Going around in circles trying to get on one, it gave up in the end and disappeared. The moon was bright and so I covered my hands and face but it made little difference it could still see me and of course the lamp. I was about to go home then a series of barks broke out again. I marched towards it. It was so busy spraying scent about and remembering Meece's advice about it's eyes I settled into the off hand shot. Turns out he was 93 strides. Big old black tail dog. Wet scars on his face from fighting. For his size I'm surp

It's a cold night here Dave. If you sit with the window open you need a blanket or old coat over your knees. Makes all the difference? -
Another wee session proved fruitful. I printed a 2" group on an old gate post at 100 strides and I mean strides and not just shuffling my feet. I guessed the hold which wasn't much but I just did what felt natural. My group was just above my target. I put two later 3/4" apart at 85 strides, I had judged it wrong and thought it was 75. I gave no hold but was only an inch low. I was shooting by a chicken unit which is under strict disease control and all pheasant in and around the unit has to be eliminated. So when I bumped into this large cock bird I got on with it and the ammo under

Today I picked up some Hornady varmint express. A 22lr of 40gn doing around 1160fps The bullet is very similar to the Winchester copper washed power point bullet! It has a thin dry wax lube. They behave s just as I expected as in they are not much louder than a subbie and flatten the traj over the useful range of a 22. They don't really extend range but enhance the range. Connecting to 75 yards is easy. The thick post on my reticle comes in about 100yds with subbies. The same post comes in around 125yds with the Hornady ammo. My old fave field target, the generic cow

Where have you been you old....person? Glad your back, I been checking the obituaries! Do you know I have not cleaned my 995 for six months, it's been running perfectly, grubby but operating perfectly. I finished off the Remington ammo yesterday and then put my current reliable ammo in. Not having it! All of a sudden it would not function perfectly. Off the Remington there was thick black soot everywhere and what looked like black gunge dribbling out of the muzzle! I was beginning to think they are using a black powder mix but my nose would of detected that, ma
