  1. Out bushing with herdwick and our little pack, 5 terriers and 2 lurchers, a rabbit sat so tight that it flushed literally under the feet of the terriers. it jumped kind of up and backwards, almost a somersault, with all the terriers snapping at it, landed on one of them, launched off her back and ran. One lurcher then went to scoop him up but got tripped by the furious terriers. Rabbit put in 2 turns lost the other lurcher and vanished to ground. it happened so quick we were just standing there with our mouths open. That rabbit deserved to get away, made all the dogs look like numptys. it was
  2. Looks like a good 'un. He should take your mind off Sasha and keep you busy!
  3. Yeah, wasnt sure where to put it but the hare was my favorite bit so here it is!
  4. i know that feeling, my bitch is exactly the same. She'll retrieve golfballs and shot pigeons and thats it. Dont know what i did wrong, the other dogs are fine but i just cant make her do it Alot of people would say get rid but she makes up for it in other ways and im a big softy so shes safe
  5. The 15lb one in the daytime pic. its a private lake so the fish are untouched, no manky mouths or fins from overfishing. One of the family caught a 22lb one recently and thats the biggest i've heard caught from there.
  6. My mate is having woman trouble and neither of us has any work on at the moment so we went to one of my permissions for a bit of sport. Hes a keen carp fisherman and there is a private lake on the ground and any amount of game so theres plenty to do . Typically it pissed down all the way through but we had a good time anyway. We did a little bury on the first day and got two bunnies for dinner. i took Tyla for a mouch while he set up his rods and made dinner. She flushed and caught a rabbit and then she retrieved her first hare, i was absolutely stoked as its only the second one she has
  7. Some cracking pics and a good day out, looks like the dogs did you proud
  8. Hello mate, are you in contact with any of his litter still? It would be nice to see how they're coming on. If he keeps on like this I might be tempted to find a nice whippet bitch for him in another couple of seasons! you alright mate, yeah we did meet at stu's a while back! Na i got him from a random german bird from crawley who needed rid of him, so i dont know anythin about his history. He was apropper little town dog when i got him, all scared of the dark n mud n stuff! but he has come on great bounds in the year that i have had him tho, he is well eager to please!! He is a bi
  9. The JRTxwhippet is my wifes and hes a very handy little tool! Works with ferrets, on the lamp and bushing. His mother was the whippet though which may account for his build, not sure you would get such a racy version from a russell dam? Good luck with whatever you decide!

  11. Thats a real shame, she was a beautiful dog and it sounds like this season would have been the making of her. RIP Sasha
  12. Me and herdwick off here have a little bushing pack going most sundays. His 4 russells and my terrier in the bushes with my bitsa and my wifes JRTxwhippet to catch bolters. Works ok, we dont catch everything we flush but we dont do too bad and have alot of fun doing it! The JRTx has good acceleration and does well on the short bursts when they are bolting from cover to cover.
  13. JRTxwhippet 21" coming on well. I think our dogs met Rusty, they had a little dispute in a field in cowfold? I hope its the same dog or this wont make much sense! When we got him I was told he'd be too slow for rabbits and too small for anything else, luckily he didnt know that and has proved it to be wrong!
  14. I shouldnt think we'll be here that long though just dealing with some family issues. Thanks for the offer though
  15. Sorry to hear that. Seems like every other post this last few days has been an RIP. I hope your mate dont get disheartened and gets himself another. All I can offer is the usual cliche, she went doing what she loved. RIP Fern.
  16. Im down in Plymouth for a while for family reasons. Me and the dogs fancy a mouch, nothing heavy as I have to be around and easily available, but a daytime wander or something would be nice?
  17. I know what you mean, its either suspicious buggers like that or half wit do gooders comlaining that your dogs too thin while they drag their wheezing obese lab or whatever past. Where in sussex are you from?
  18. Glad to hear hes coming together for you, sounds like you'll be having a good season this year
  19. I think labsnlurchers off here bred a litter of firstx lab greys a while ago, not sure how they turned out though. Im a big fan of working labs so would be very interested to hear if any one knows about them?
  20. She cooks them but I tend to do the gutting. She sometimes helps when butchering venison though
  21. Thank you very much! I had to snap her up quick, theres not many girls about that look like her and are just as happy out on the lamp or ferreting as shopping!
  22. She loves it, anyway she should be happy - we only just got back from our honeymoon!!!!
  23. Parker, my wifes JRTxwhippet, 21" and working very well day and night
