  1. Try this mate. http://gourock.com/net-repair.html HH. G. Thanks for the replies, that is a very comprehensive site golloum. i reckon, with a bit of head scratching, i could do that. i dont have any actual net twine, can i use anything else or is that just false economy?
  2. Start her slowly and dont try too much too soon. i did with my bitch and im still paying for it. if it was me i would leave anything but a bit of gentle ferreting this season and let her come on over the summer with the young rabbits in the day time. Then start properly beginning of next season. Thats just my opinion though, im sure other members will have different ones
  3. i waste nothing, we eat some, some feeds the ferrets, some goes to friends, all the good ones go to the butcher and anything damaged goes to a birds of prey centre. Theres nothing worse than game being dumped in the woods and fields. its a waste and it makes us all look bad.
  4. Due to an over enthusiastic dog i have several ruddy great holes in one of my nets. i have no idea how to fix them and couldnt find much by searching. Any help would be much appreiciated, Thanks
  5. Welcome mate, get some pics up. Best of luck with the pup
  6. You will get more help if you ask in the "rifles and shotguns" section, theres alot of knowledgable people on there. Goo luck
  7. Well, i've just read the whole thread. Some of you lot need to get out and have a duel with your hand bags, i hear dawn is traditional. it gets so catty on here! im always surprised by these threads, peoples ability to judge dogs based on pictures alone and then to have full blown arguements based on these judgements!!! i've never seen these dogs work, in fact i've seen very few dogs other than my own work, but its beyond me how anyone can know what they're like without seeing them? if i was sure they were rubbish and wanted to prove a point i'd be down like a shot with a video camera
  8. i had a very good working lab that was used as a stud. He wasnt kept with any bitches but he knew whenever anything was in season within a wide radius and he was hell bent on serving every one of them! He was like Houdini and the garden was like Fort Knox! He was worth it though, worked as hard as he played!
  9. More likely due to everyone being skint and dumping the kids pets i reckon? Pretty much all standard coloured around me though, there is a roundabout on the way into Brighton that used to have a thriving population of multicoloured bunnies, not sure if they are still there though
  10. Wait til later in the season once they've wised up a bit, then try stalking them through woodland. That can be some very challenging shooting using an air rifle! Having said that, you can put a feeder out and ambush them off it very easily but theres no sport in that
  11. it is legal but its a good idea to check with your land owner first. Some people will let you some not. its also good to remember that those birds cost someone time and money and you sniping everything that crosses your boundary will not endear you to the keeper next door! i have one place where they want all the birds cleared out and kept out all year round as its a riding stables and they have caused a couple of falls in the past by spooking the horses. Other people wont have them touched or they are reserved for landowners family's shooting, other dont care, it is pretty rare to find th

    REMINDER

Just bought two, so I hope its good! My wife was meant to be in it but the dates clashed, so maybe next year! Come on lads, its no more than a round of drinks and all in aid of BADA and lurcher link, dont be so tight!!!
  13. No none of the pics show the lab x. They are doing well though thanks, They have already started working, they are 18 month old now, doing well. The one owned by scottie off here is doing really well in the field already. Cheers Do you have any pictures? Me and Amy were talking about them the other day, wondering how they were getting on. Its a cross thats always appealed to me!
  14. What? How do you think you get the ferrets out then? Please dont tell me you think you pull them out by the lines?
  15. Considerably better chance than with a purse net, does that make all ferreting pointless? Have to admit though that that many dogs would be too many for me but if it works, why knock it?
  16. So how much are they? Its probably on here somewhere, just cant find it?
  17. i feel for you mate. i've got one of them, she really good when shes sound but very accident prone. Nothing more frustrating!!!
  18. Ancient but has accounted for 100's of head of game and vermin and never let me down Falcon FN19 .20 and FN12 .20 his n hers lol
  19. Thats exactly right. All this trouble is due to the enforcement of an unjust law. i, and many others no doubt, will not abide by it but this opens the door to breaking other laws. if what was legal becomes illegal, as has happened, then there is no point worrying about permission as the sport itself is illegal. i have no time for threatening behaviour on either side as its bound to escalate and no one wins. As for driving over crops and breaking gates etc then my sympathy is with the farmer, if your careful and not blatant then theres little harm done.
  20. The well known "ninja deer dog" technique My dad had a female harris hawk that ninja'd a roe in Scotland a few years ago. Coming down off the hill a roe flushed down a burn and the harris went after it, got kicked off after the first hit then went up above the deer. The hawk came down hitting the deer hard in the head and it fell and broke it's neck! Not bad for a 2lb bird, deer do break there necks when they fall at full tilt more than you might think. But a dog that could make them fall and break their necks every time would be highly unlikely, I'm sure it happens just not very often.
  21. As above, needs to be a dog bus, off road vehicle and work van in one. Are they any good? Any info on fuel economy would be handy too, cheers
