  7. I used to love packing up what ever kit I had "not much " bung it all in a nail of the motor I had at the time and bugger of few months and I'd say the pyrenees was my favourite and I also like Germany, we parked up in a gateway on a forest road for the night in the old ambulance I'd convert and woke up to something hitting the van and when I opened the door it was wild pigs rooting about so just went back to sleep and woke to find flat tyre and more dents along the side of motor . I have a couple mates who live in hungry ,they moved out few years ago and live in what we'd call a farm

Yes he lives in the mountains on the Slovakia/polish border and does a fair bit but mostly shooting ,one of the herders In the doc was small pyrenees type full of energy and like I say a huntaway and big herders bit like the romanian herder , I used to work with a romanian who breeds big herders and he said no living thing would worry them and he offered to bring me a pup over but i declined the offer .
  9. I see a documentary about a sheperd in the alps and he had trained a pack of herders to protect the sheep from wolves as farmers was loosing to much stock , some of the herder types he used was ike a mastiff and he used huntaways and French herder and it was first year in many they didn't loose a sheep ,but like sheperd said a single dog would be killed by wolves but a pack keeps them at bay .
  10. A good mate lives in Slovakia not far from polish border and he was telling me how bears come onto his property and wolf packs in the area .
  11. You ever been in arrested in Eastern Europe? Its easy to say not official line but poaching /breaking laws over there not the same as getting told off by nice Mr police man here in UK. You get nicked for running stuff with dogs your off to jail unless you got lots of ££££ or in the no with well to do folk .
  12. Great pics SheepChaser, How many years you been working sheep, a shepred local works borders but just got a kelpie pup .I see some bits on YouTube about herders in oz is it a kelpie thing running across the backs or do most types do it ? I'm no sheep man so genuine question.

  14. Getting 3 rabbits on a place they not many is more rewarding than taken numbers on ground that's got plenty so well done ?
  15. All I can say when ever you see one of the dogs he calls "my old type " they like peas in a pod and breed true to type and look no diffrent from what me unculs two did 30 year ago ,
  16. Katch I got no need to bicker with you and we obviously have diffrent views on what a line of jukel is ?
  17. I no need to be defensive bud as I no men who had dogs from Jeff fifty year ago me uncul being one ,but saying a line of dogs isn't a line because someone out crossed is crazy talk ?

  21. Do you really think they started of as Smithfield collies ,drovers came from all over but I'd say a lot was scotch/irish decendent and it would have been these men that bred the Norfolk types .
