I had no lessons and bought a cheap compound and set it up off YouTube vids and was shooting pretty straight away. I found trad a different ball game, it's harder ( my opinion anyway ) and took me a good while to get a were I am now. I settled on 3 under gap style. But I just prefer trad , I shoot at about 20 yards and can hit the bottom of a coke can, so happy with that. Am sure compound is a lot more accurate, but I do just prefer trad mate

Good stuff keep at it

Did you have a spin trig , how did you get on

Tbh mate yeah and all the cheap Chinese ones I didn't rate. I started buying my arrows from Merlin Archey UK , just found them better suited to me. But the chinese bows I rated , such as the black hunters and the T Bows ( Hoyt copies ) were great for what I wanted. Edited to add, I actually did get some cheap chinese arrows off eBay for my compound which did shoot fine, but for trad archery a better quality arrow I got better results.

Must admit never had much to do with whippets over the years as I always kept bigger dogs. Obviously before the ban how did they get on with other things ( Only edible game ) ? I imagine game enough, but perhaps not the size and strength there. -
He could always use a bit of talc to pull them on

The Redtail x Harris became popular in recent years for falconry. Our old postman bred them, I seen them them , but never seen them hunt. But heard good reports . -

Not posted any been out shots for a while , nipped yesterday checking a few tracks and dropped a woody with a new little stihl frame I got other week . Nice little cheap frame . I’ve being active on the squirrels and had a few recently. Plenty about . -
Been watching him mate , he does some nice quivers and shoots from the ground big Jim’s bow club and shatterproof archery do the tested updated black hunters

More open were I am on my permissions. I also I think if I was to go abroad and legally hunt, then take quarry with a primitive recurve shooting of the shelf no sights. Is the ultimate test , to get within 15 yards of your intended quarry . Then to draw and hold that weight until a shot presented it's self is very hard work and every kill very hard worked for and I would imagine very rewarding.

But could you take down a Russian helicopter lol
-
I got 2 and fitted custom strings, I was lucky draw weights on mine are fine. They are actually really nice and great to shoot

Absolutely agree for precision , range and accuracy a compound cannot be beat . However on my permissions they are a lot of footpaths with general public , so when practising at targets I'd rather look like robin hood than Rambo 3. I think a compound would bring a lot of unwanted attention and also awkward to put in a bag were as a recurve will take down and assemble in mins. No sights to get knocked and easy maintenance.

I have a couple of black hunters , take a look at those. I really enjoy these also. They have a huge worldwide following

Honestly Mac it was a China knock off ov a more expensive bow. But it's the first one I,d grab . Am pondering about buying another in a higher poundage to be honest
-
This is one of my favourite bows , it’s a 40lb @my draw , 2 peace take down longbow. Shoots great , takes minutes to assemble and fits nice in a rucksack. Very pleased with this little bow and a pleasure to shoot .
-
I got a budget compound , shoots accurate and I enjoyed it . But I found my passion with trad bows tbh . Just love the simplicity of them .

If you left a tent round here like that the spice heads would move in it lol. No luck with the saddle mate. But funny enough yesterday I was just out ratching about in the pissing down rain and nipped into a small block of woodland/cover to check on a salt lick and look at tracks. And I had 3 does about 25 yards away making there way through the cover in brambles to the left of me, before the dog made a yick and spooked them. Then behind me was a buck literally a minute later until again he clocked me and the dog . It's just getting that 20 yard perfect camera pic. I've only ever tried 1st lig
