Tubes last longer, not as accurate some say......I don’t use tubes. Yes flat stuff equals bands. If you do buy a catapult try a scout copy off eBay.....they’re vary in price...... but generally £8 -£14. These allow ttf or ott have clips for band attachment. Maybe try ott first if your out of practice, also slightly easier to do ott bands. If you buy a roll of band say gzk green .66 about £12 for 2 meters.....last you ages. All the stuff in my pic is cheap to buy and guarantees you’ll make bands as good as anyone else

It’s a fair point given the best rabbiting dog I owned was a minute old fashioned Jack Russell bitch.
-
Not that much though if you check the pic out.....it’s mainly if you do tapers which I much prefer, for speed and the fact there’s more chance of them busting at the pouch end...reduces the chance of me getting a band in the face.

Yes piece of cake...... Youl’ll need .......Roller cutter, green craft mat, band template, band jig ( easy enough to make your own), band material, pouch, crystal string to tie to pouch.....clamp scissor things. Ill post a pic of the stuff I use. Lot of people use gzk bands or sheshou. Sheshou from cattushack, gzk from Celtic cattys......also available at other places. Precise is also a good band. Lots of people taper their bands.....makes them faster. Youtube is amazing for tutorials. Give it a go, might be a bit frustrating at first, but it’s enjoyable and once you’

Nice, what’s the terriers breeding

Ive only once ordered from SimpleShot and I got away without paying and import tax charges. Im just wondering if anyone has experience of this, roughly how much your goods cost if you can remember or what you bought and an idea of the import charge. considering buying a few things from SimpleShot depending on the charge.

It’s not technical......not much harder than making a cup of tea. All the information is here if you need advice just fire away.

Another catapult I like is the simple shot occularis......might not be everyone’s cup of tea......but I love it. I shoot it ott and hold it with my finger around it and my thumb on the front...not sure if it’s called pinch grip or brace...? The bands hold in place with two rubber bungs and two ball bearings....simple but takes a couple of goes to get the hang of. Its at least as accurately as both the scouts for me....lovely catapult.

Did you try that little gzk small purple pouch? I think there brilliant,, they hold their shape well and love the indent for consistent placement of the ball.

I was religiously using 9.5mm about 25/20 .6 ish band, but a lot on YouTube seem to be using 8mm for hunting...... with tapers like 20/15 or 18/12 Or similar, with good results. I guess at the end of the day you try and either it’s for you or not. I tried it because I’m a tight get and you get more balls for your money. I don’t tend to kill a lot these days don’t know what’s happened to me.....think I’m getting a bit soft, but I took a rabbit out the other day no problem at quite a bit of distance with .66 gzk, 18/13 taper scout lt.

That title stopped me in my tracks....

I changed the length of the sheshou the other day and made it longer due to the bands snapping too soon. Honestly i don’t know what was going on, but I’m pretty sure I hadn’t changed my technique.........but the balls were flying all over the place. I reckon the .75 are probably borderline too much for the 8mm. I’ll have to try .6/.65 sheshou. For now I’ll be using the .66 green gzk and I’ve some .58 black cold weather which is probably around the same draw weight as the .66 green. I’ll see what these are like when I increase the band length....I think they’ll be ok.

Got scout Lt from pro shot catapults about £35. Got the Chinese scout copy off eBay........ for some reason the price seems to move around on these £5- £13. i also had a scout from simple shot in America........( I reckon they will be the only ones with the scout lt in stock at moment)

Love the scout lt. My anchor point is generally under my check bone, but for some reason lately I seem to have lost my up down accuracy. I seem to be shooting high.. I don’t know if it’s since I’ve changed my bands and gone to 8mm.....I don’t really wont to move my anchor much higher as I doesn’t feel right. Also just wondering what everyone divides their draw length by to get your active length. I generally divide by 5, but I’m finding my bands seem to be snapping prematurely.

Love litters like this......make great little workers. Look forward to seeing pics when there a year old. That looks so similar to my springer lurcher/ splurcher.....not just the markings, the way its looking at.....seems well balanced.

My main hunting bands for 9.5 were 25/20mm my active length was 15cm. I didn’t do much with the .66 green gzk as I was using the last of my precise.....similar thickness before I stopped over to 8mm, but as I remember they were powerful enough to hunt with without a doubt. For 8mm I’m using sheshou 7.5 or gzk .66 green.......I’ve just been practicing when out with the 8mm.....takes a bit of getting used to as they fly a bit faster....certainly sharpening up my skills and eye sight. The taper I use is 18/13mm again 15cm draw, but with the sheshou I add a cm to my final length of band....yo

I was curious as I knew I had a few spare bands in green gzk .66, 25/20 taper, but I’ve just checked and the full length of the band from the pouch to the end of elastic is 16cm. I am happy to post them on to you if you can make use of them.......if there too short I’m sure somebody else on here could make use of them, but you have first refusal. I was using these for 9.5mm. I’ve recently been shooting 8mm hence these sitting doing nothing. Just let me know if you want them.....then message me your address. Ah......just realised your shooting ttf and these are over the top.
-
Do you know your draw length...?
-
Wouldn't cost you much to do yourself.....you’ll save a fortune.....plus once you made a couple it’s straight forward.....loads of vids or advice on here if you need any advice.....honestly it’s worth it. Get a band template of the taper you want for a tenner.

Check this seller out....he had some earlier .....sheshou...that is https://www.cattyshack.co.uk/product-category/flat-bands/rolls-of-band/page/2/ Ive been trying sheshou .75 with 18mm -13mm active 15 and 8mm , works for me but everyone’s different. I did find it was going prematurely at the pouch when I divided my draw length by five so normally my active is 15 so I just add a centimetre and it’s lasting well. The only thing I don’t like about sheshou and it’s stupid, but it gets on my nerves.......is the bands some how shimmer with sunlight.....and it catches your eye....
-
I heard something on a vid that they are different......and unfortunately I can’t guarantee it but I’m sure someone said, and I’m not sure if they knew there stuff or not......but...........wait for it...........yellow green black.........from left to right equals a tougher draw. Im not sure if it’s speed related or not. Im not keen on gzk.....I’ve had a few now that got holes in the middle of the bands. Prefer sheshou or precise.
-
Nice catty, not knocking it as we all like different things, but I’d get shut of them bands if it was mine.
-
Cool....glad they got to you. Just shows you...I don’t have any hand slap with them. Id just banded up the occularis with some fresh bands the other day, I took it out with the scout lt......I only went and lost the occularis....couldn’t believe it.. was gutted. Anyway two days and lots of searching I found it...happy days. Have you tried the green bands with the 8mm.....that’s .66. I did find at first with the 8mm I was way less accurate than the 9.5 I used to use, but now I’m just as good. It did surprise me at first with the 8mm how much I was missing compared to the 9.5mm.
-
Anybody tried yet......looks to be fast band. https://www.cattyshack.co.uk/product/gong-chi-green/

Whippets I’ve seen knocking about seem to have got taller over the years, personally I prefer the short stocky type for a bit of hedgerow shenanigans.
