That doesn’t sound right......I’m sure you can work around it. Stick with ott for a while. How do you hold your catapult? One of the best things I did was to change to having my index finger wrap around and my thumb on the front. Can’t remember what style I used before but it I wasn’t as consistent. If your happy with ttf...then maybe just stick with it, If your not having hand hits etc and your hit rate it ok. However, it does sound strange that your having to anchor front of your mouth ott.

Yes. I’ve seen people move there anchor point to achieve shooting higher or lower, but also seen where people use different reference points on there fork tip to active the same. I have always used an anchor point and top tip of band or tip of fork to determine height......catapult on its side, finger behind, thumb on front, and pinky hole I find useful. I always wanted my face anchor point to be in the edge of my mouth, because I believe in my eyes this to be the most repeatable consistent place, but unfortunately for me when I try this I’m going way too high. My face anchor is the

Just wondering why? What difference you found?
-
Also take into consideration if you ever want to try a optic fibre it’s probably easier to attach to frame on ott above bands, might be more difficult on ttf with the band been in the way.

Just curious how if anyone has had the experience of how they differ to the border collie half cross......in terms of temperament and work style. I found with pure collies and the the half cross collies they vary a lot in their drive to work. I’ve had some that have that really natural instinct to get nose down and love to hunt/graft even when there’s not much if anything at all about they still want to hunt. Then I’ve had the ones that will graft if it’s in the vicinity, but won’t naturally have that instinct/drive to hunt hard and find when there’s not much about and will probably

Maybe try both and see how you go, I think until you try both and not just for five minutes, over say a few weeks and see which you get a feel for. I started ott and tried ttf, I thought ttf would be more accurate and after a while i was with it. I then went back to ott after a few too many hand hits and straight away I noticed I was hitting more. Just stuck to it ever since, but less fiddly to do the pouch end of bands too......although neither is hard to do so to speak. Just remember, I’m sure your aware, the bands on the scout will be purpose made to be shot ott or ttf.....depending wh

I think people can only speak from personal experience .......I started over the top, but through the forks appealed to me so I tried it , however I was still making mistakes. It’s these mistakes that can be more of a problem when shoot ttf. When shooting ott the elastic and ball travels over the forks, yet when shooting ttf the bands and ball travel through the forks as expected. I found through experience when learning if shooting ott and I made a mistake it wasn’t a big deal, but when shooting ttf making a mistake can be much closer to your hand or forks. So I was getting the occasional for

Think it was about £6 ish off eBay. Looks simple enough to use. Can try many different tapers and can cut up to 24cm. There were a couple selling this.....I went with the one that had the highest feedback,,,,,honestly I couldn’t believe how quickly it came from China......sure it was less than a week. All you do is loosen the Allen key bolts set the taper and away you go.....not tried yet, but looks well worth it.

Nice that, but I’d buy a scout lt, get some flat bands on it and you’ll be champion in no time if you practice, but I’d start ott.

I reckon about twenty five years ago....that’s a rough guess by the way.....I was talking no to a woman who I had a meeting with and as it happened she had quite a few collies......brown and black.....couldn’t tell you thinking back if she had any kelpies, but in conversation when I was talking about my collies and lurchers she told me she used to stud her dogs out to David sleight for his lurcher breeding. I nearly bought a kelpie lurcher pup off him about 8 ish years ago, but unfortunately for me I was wanting a bitch at the time. It did seem a bit weird that he was wanting to breed

I’m always interested in pure kelpies as well having worked pure border collies to rabbits many years ago. I love to an underdog grafting if that makes sense, it makes it more rewarding for me when they do catch. Plus you get to see different work styles. My mom and dad both retired now for some years got a border collie x Jack Russell pup from a farm......both working dogs.....about a year ago ( I may have mentioned before). There always out walking with her, but it’s a few months since I popped out for a walk with her, but when I did it was lovely to watch her hunt so naturally, I mean

Just saw these and thought it might be of interest to you.....Celtic cattys website, under accessories.....

Nah clips are still shite
-
Just wondering how your kelpies are doing........and how you finding their temperament?
-
I’ve had a little bit of a play with putting the bands in the clips. Ive found that if I double the band in the clip it works better for me and I reckon I was slightly over tightening the clips which was aiding the bands not seating straight, still not as good fitting as the scout lt clips, however much better now. It really is a great catapult.

Just an up date on the torque....as mentioned before it’s an accurate catapult, like all SimpleShot catapults I own, but I do have a criticism of it. The clips......they’re the same clips as the ‘scout lt ‘other than they’re slightly bigger to accommodate the wider forks, but the clips on the torque are definitely an afterthought. The bit of the clip that secures the band is narrower than the indent in the catapult, this leads to the clip slightly twisting down when tightening and hence it’s a right pain in the ass to keep it perfectly straight....guess it may come with practice, but I do

Agreed, definitely horses for courses. I bet you used a few curse words when that happened.......I’ve two or three little scars on my left index finger...by Christ they hurt and took a while to get better.

Curious......whats the price of hex mmmmmm88888888 ( won’t let me write [BANNED TEXT] without deleting it)

My opinion....others may vary.....ttf and ott are both accurate methods of shooting....depends on your preference. Ttf if shooting gangster ( side on..) ...you aim down the centre of the band. The band and ball go through the forks... Ott ......if you shoot gangster......you aim down top of band or tip of fork ....the ball flys over the forks. Due to the ball flying between the forks on ttf catapult there is more chance of a fork hit if you make an error or you are simply learning. A fork hit isn’t end of the world, however if it hits a finger it will cut bruise and hurt it. ..

What size ammunition do you use for that set up with bands that long. Just curious as I’m thinking of trying shooting with a longer draw......sort of elbow fully back and arm at 45 degrees.
-
It’s true a lot seem to shoot ttf, but I think most try both and see high they prefer. However for example Nathan masters who shoots an occularis has one band on top of the forks and the other band ttf! I started ott then went ttf.....neither is more accurate, both just as easy really, but for me the cost of ttf mistakes sooner or later may end in the dreaded hand hit.....and you only want to do it once.....think I’ve done it 3 or 4 times. Other thing you might want to consider, ttf you look down the centre of the band,,,,,ott the top edge of the band or tip of fork.....on ott you ca

Which catapult you gone for?
-
What’s your active length? 25/20 .6 .66 I reckon......(what I used with 9.5) or some use 23/18 ish
-
Took the torque out. Felt a bit strange to hold at first, but once I’d shot a few felt good. Very accurate. It has good wide forks if you have wide bands.
