  1. I think it's going to be the 97. To hell with the rest of them. Although Big Mac makes a strong argument for the 100... Which is beyond my budget.
  2. Having had a mate's SuperSport on long term loan, it is now time to buy a gun of my own. In fact it had been time for a long time - reason being I've been agonising over whether to go pcp or stay springer. I had a loan of an S410 and a stirrup pump couple of years ago and was seriously impressed with the gun, less so with the pumping. Now being a disorganised sort of chap, I just know that maintaining a tank and all that gubbins is going to be a faff; instinct is telling me that spring power will suit me better in the long term, although I'm also mindful of the silence and ease of sitting
  3. They can get YOU slaughtered too! I remember years ago trying to remove a live nest from a hay bale store. The jaspers had built a nice nest between two bales at the front of a small stack and the customer didn't want Ficam on her horse chow. Like a dick I said I could just slip the thing into a binbag and job would be a good un. Well when I pulled those bales apart it just ripped the nest open and those feckers went mental. They were actually hanging off me gauntlets by their stings. On top of that a couple got in me bee suit via the little Velcro flap that goes over where the three zips me
  4. Apologies if this has been asked and answered before, but would really appreciate some opinions/knowledge. I am about to apply for a FAC for .22 lr and know a local land owner who will give me the thumbs up. The acreage is several hundred of mixed arable, on which I already do some airgunning. The only possible glitch I can foresee is that 2 other individuals already have the land on their certificates. What do people reckon? Will the police regard this as a problem? Also, if my application is successful, will I be restricted to this permission on .22lr or will I be able to shoot elsewhere
  5. Removing a bee colony from a building correctly is beyond the remit of Pest Control. You're opening yourself up to a world of trouble if you just 'dust and plug'. It ain't as simple as that.
  6. I'll be getting me cage traps out next week in a 2 acre garden. There's no RP fence between it and the surrounding arable land and woodland so I'm not sure how effective my efforts will be in even the short term, but I know I WILL trap a lot of rabbits! On private land away from prying eyes they're bloody good them traps.
  7. Got me box of putangs through from Paul at ukputangsupplies. A good guy to deal with.
  8. Get someone in. If it's for a wedding then there's a lot riding on the success of the clearance.
  9. Dr5 Xl 8 golf ball ficam D and a Michelin tyre inflator because pumping an empty DR 5 is murder on a hot day.
  10. Fencing is another trade where some breathtaking figures get charged. I referred a job to a young lad in our area 5 posts and 5 panels in loose soil following Storm Doris. All materials were supplied by the client. This boy asked for £300 - he was there 2 hours, didn't even have to take the old fence away. The customer paid up without a murmur and I stood there reflecting that when I started in work it would have taken me a month to earn that sum. If this same punter ever has a mole in his garden, does this knowledge give me the excuse to charge like the light brigade? I could, but I won't bec
  11. I read somewhere she was turning The Lady Mole Catcher concept into a franchise package - quoting ote of £35k in your first year etc etc. Look it up - sure it's on the net somewhere. £15 k for a small van and 20 Duffus traps?? She may be controversial (and I thought the assertion about planting dead 'uns did our trade a terrible disservice) but she sure knows how to wring every penny out of the man in black velvet.
  12. Thanks lads. I spoke to a company in France today who will ship them to UK but its a minimum order of 300! They're called Laboratoire Roman. They told me they would give me details of a UK supplier by email. It'll be interesting to find out who it is!
  13. Has anyone bought any putanges recently? If so, where did you get them from? I can't seem to find them anywhere!
  14. I stopped killing bees last year. It was really messing with my head thinking 'here is a species that does nothing but good for human-kind and here I am killing them off by the thousand'. Yes,I have lost customers because of my stance, but I sleep a lot easier. Now I just try and educate, and on the occasions that a swarm is hanging, I can usually get a keeper in to collect it, which if they succeed in locating it to a hive, makes my fricking day. I personally wish they would outlaw the destruction of bees.
  15. You can't muck about. I had a crow that was staking out an old people's home and attacking the front entrance door with such ferocity it was injuring itself. Blood all over the glass and on the handles. Had to kill it as a matter of public health.
  16. They are a damned nuisance - as intelligent as dolphins, but 10 x more annoying. If dolphins could fly, they'd be tapping on windows too. And if crows could swim, they'd be up to some kind of marine shennanigans, no doubt.
  17. That reminds me of the time I was called out by this woman whose car was being attacked everyday by a big male crow. It was a black astra, I believe, and the bird was ripping the trim off it, mangling the wiper blades and generally shitting itself senseless all over the paint work. After a couple of fruitless stake-outs with the beezer, I got a call bird from a gamekeeper mate and stuck it a discretely placed Larsen. Next day I pulls up, and her interfering c - u next-Tuesday of a neighbour greets me with "I see you caught that devil of a crow in that cage thing of yours" then, waving an old W
  18. That place sounds like squirrel heaven and needs a proper cull. If that was me ( and I wish it was!) I'd a feeder up in the woods nearby and despatch them from a hide with an airgun.
  19. Yep, sort 'em quick - and don't let your insurer see that post!
  20. It's been dry for weeks where I an and the catch rate has tumbled. Luckily the worm juice on cotton wool has been luring the trickier beggars out of the depths.
  21. You want to look at rabbitcontrol.co.uk or similar - they'll be pulling them out of dropboxes by the ton.
  22. I use a hot glue gun to fix peanuts to the trigger plate of a mk 6 for squirrels. Never had a foul catch yet. My theory is it keeps em busy in the killzone and the fixed weight of the nuts lightens the break point.
  23. There's an American guy on YouTube -Matty Molenator I think he calls himself, digs all his moles out alive and relocates them. Makes good viewing. He must have sharp eyes and a lot of time on his hands!
  24. Dry crumbling well drained ground with big trees and walls - I trap in a couple of cemetarys and end up spending hours pissing around getting the sets to my satisfaction. Somehow though I don't mind because a few of me old muckers are buried there - and one day I will be too.
