  1. You probably don't need a gas guzzler like that. Go for something between 300 and 450cc with selectable 2 or 4wd. It will easily pull a trailer full of feed or sheep! For work either Honda, Yam, Suzuki or Kwacker. I use a Loncin 250 which is Chinese and Yamaha powered. 2wd only but I only use it for hunting, shooting, ferreting etc. It's very good but no substitute for something designed for work. Good luck, cheers,D.
  2. Great scenery, pics and catch. can't remember digging through frost for a while!
  3. NOT CLAIMING TO BE THE ORIGINAL BUT I POSTED THAT ON 25TH NOVEMBER, SORRY
  4. Your welcome, wish I knew what cynology was!
  5. No good for rough off road use, you need shaft drive. See what the farmers use. Cheers, D.
  6. Here's a pic of my dog Toby out of Middleton's Nugget, taken about 1982. Dug and bolted many foxes with him before I sold him due to marital problems. Anyone who was about at the time will tell you that he bred sonme of the best Lakeys in the North. As well as lookers these dogs worked and well too. Like all breeders not every dog made the grade in either field but from personal experience the majority of the ones we knew were top notch. Sorry about the quality of the pic, scanned from a 25 year old polaroid!
  7. Great to see the dogs all working together.
  8. Depends on the size of the dog, how much excercise it gets and to a degree what suits it and what is available to you. My dogs eat better than some people I know, but the balance of their diet is most important, dependant on their needs. Hope this helps, cheers, D.
  9. That's what it's all about- good times
  10. Hi Pegleg, how many pics would you like, I've got literally hundreds! Cheers D.
  11. An obvious one is keep quiet, don't stamp around or let your dog blow down the holes. Secondly always check all your kit before ou go out.
  12. If she was fluffed up there is the possibility that she may have net a rat, which we did on Wednesday. Luckily, I was to far away to dive on it as it slipped through the net.
  13. Crackin' pics but aren't haggis out of season at the moment?
  14. Well done that man, first pic!
  15. Muzzle would be OK providing she didn't bump into a rat which she possibly will at some stage.
  16. He'd be better off with a young pup or a "doing" dog as a 6 month old puppy for sale is either remaining from a litter (possibly couldn't sell it) or has previously been the wrong choice of somebody else (potentially ruined).
  17. How long have you had the ferret as she may be doing this because of change of routine and lifestyle. As Fish says, feed her before you go out but only lightly or she may decide it's siesta time when she's down the bury. An old timer told me many years ago that he had had this problem and so rigged the ferrets collar with a bell so that the rabbits would know they were coming and bolted easier. Not sure myself but it may be worth atry if you have no luck with other methods. Cheers, D.
  18. It's a decent night down here tonight but I've got to work so maybe tomorrow.....
  19. Have seen couple (in the daytime) on one of my local lamping spots but never caught one but we did use to get several in near Malham in the Yorkshire dales about 25 years back!
  20. Got one of my ferrets from a rescue centre. He is one of the best ferrets I've ever handled and works great. They cut or spey them, give them any required vet treatment and you can pick them up for a donation of a few quid, or free if you're tight and cheeky.
  21. Shit, sometimes we tend to forget what it's like in the real world. Thanks.
  22. Wouldn't take my white terrier out with some of the people who shoot round here.
