Again, not too much or the stink will be twice as bad as normal ferret odour. My 3 will share a fish of about 1/2 lb or so but no more than once a week.

Like I said as supplement and not too much/often. Mine also get the odd mackeral when they are in.

Went out with the terriers and shotguns on Saturday morning and we got a fox. Went out again Sunday night with my buddy with the rifle and he shot another whilst 2 more were coupling up in the same field!

That's good rule of thumb but the rabs have been breeding all year round down here so there are pretty much always young around, or fryers as they are otherwise known. Cheers, D.

Have tried several companies but the one I have been using for the past 3 years is KHS. They are based in Newbury and are primarily horse insurance specialists. I have 3 dogs of various breeds and pay pennies over £100 per year each. Have had several claims with my lurcher (over 3600 quids worth) over the last 2 years and the premium has only gone up about a fiver. I first found them on the net and they are very easy to deal with and quick to pay put. Hope this helps, Cheers. D.

Ferrets are killing machines in the wild. We have domesticated them and given them the comfort zone. Pretty much all ferrets will work, but would you expect a ferret, that is left for days, possibly weeks, in a run or hutch or worse in some cases, shoved in a box, then in a car, then bumped across a few fields before it is asked to go down a hole to bolt a rabbit to immediately return and then go back in he box again. People do though and have done for ages. I am of the opinion that the welfare of the ferret when not hunting should be a priority. The majority of ferreters I know do but

It sounds like she's wanting to hunt by scent. If you can, take her out with an experienced dog and let her watch. Also walk up a few rabbits and slip when she's seen them so she will see the movement when they scoot. You will lose rabbits this way but hopefully the bitch will associate keeping her head up with having more runs and your "strike rate" will increase. You need to ensure she has seen the rab before you slip. Hope this helps, good luck. Cheers, D.

You probably don't need a gas guzzler like that. Go for something between 300 and 450cc with selectable 2 or 4wd. It will easily pull a trailer full of feed or sheep! For work either Honda, Yam, Suzuki or Kwacker. I use a Loncin 250 which is Chinese and Yamaha powered. 2wd only but I only use it for hunting, shooting, ferreting etc. It's very good but no substitute for something designed for work. Here's a pic of my dog Toby out of Middleton's Nugget, taken about 1982. Dug and bolted many foxes with him before I sold him due to marital problems. Anyone who was about at the time will tell you that he bred sonme of the best Lakeys in the North. As well as lookers these dogs worked and well too. Like all breeders not every dog made the grade in either field but from personal experience the majority of the ones we knew were top notch. Sorry about the quality of the pic, scanned from a 25 year old polaroid!

Depends on the size of the dog, how much excercise it gets and to a degree what suits it and what is available to you. My dogs eat better than some people I know, but the balance of their diet is most important, dependant on their needs. Hope this helps, cheers, D.
