Make apple jelly (very easy) delicious in ham sandwich. Stew and freeze for use over the year (NB label clearly, as stewed apple looks exactly like leek and potato soup). Give to a friend or neighbour who keeps pigs Find a cider maker or collective near you. Or get a cider press.

Taking The Piss To A Whole New Level.
Squeamish5 replied to forest of dean redneck's topic in Lurchers & Running Dogs
That's another way of looking at it I suppose lolNB hope my comment didn't come across as a criticism of yours re general dogs/ drive stuff. Was purely meant as a reflection on people who breed (and, indeed, buy) unnecessarily while there are dogs galore in rescues that will fit most dedicated responsible homes. -
Taking The Piss To A Whole New Level.

Duckin disgraceful. From my point of view, as a non-hunter who yet enjoys living with a tall skinny long-nosed hound, there are plenty around, (discards from you hunting peeps) for those of us who appreciate the joy of a running dog, and have a home to offer them. People who breed surplus are c**ts. Simples. -
OMG that looks DELICIOUS! What a great idea. Love the styling too. Hope you have a wonderful day and a long and happy marriage. (PS Parsley, Sage, Rosemary and ... Toms)

I've picked sloes in sept before. If they're ripe and ready, get them before someone else does! They should be deep blue with a white bloom and come off the stalk easily. I pick them as they're ready, and freeze them in bags. Then, when I have enough, I give them a couple of gentle whacks with a rolling pin (don't want to split the kernels) and off we go. Regarding the 'first frost' thing, I think it must depend on where you live.

I see your rainbow skyline and I raise you one monochrome horizon. (NB this may not work as I've still not really figured out what to do on photobucket). But, whatever, loved the reflections.

tends to vary the one i used today was off a lady on facebook on the allotment groups I sort of made it up as I went along - 750g of blackcurrants, 650g of white granulated sugar, 100g of dark soft brown sugar, 50ml lemon juice, 300ml water & 75g 100% dark chocolate. Made about 7 x 180ml jars - don't boil for more than 5mins as too much liquid evaporates. It is very rich and very moreish! when I tested for a set it was very very nice though I did boil for longer than 5 minutes If you search on here there is a recipe for microwave blackberry jam thats bang on easy. I also do th

The Truth About Positive Dog Training
Squeamish5 replied to neems's topic in Working Dog Health & Training Talk
It's all part of the positive claptrap ," there are many types of aggression "what I'm saying there is one aggression but just different temperaments that's how it's going to be expressed in a different manner Some dogs implode some explod depending on temperament , why complicate things , trying to blind people with science How complicated do you think dogs are , what's the bottom line bud Try explaining the nature of dogs , it's not difficult but then I suppose you'll say there are many different natures Your doing home checks on people but you don't really understand the na -
Calling The Police To Let Them Know You're Lamping

You're squeamish and won't touch a dead rabbit so your post on a hunting forum doesn't hold much weight. LolHey you've got me there. Don't wanna touch a dead rabbit, don't wanna touch a tumoured brain either. Am a total cissy. Still, grew up rural, and own a bit of my homeland (thanks to my husb's tireless graft). Buy my meat from local butchers / game dealers whether here or back home. Am just as entitled as you or anyone on here to have an opinion on hunting. Really didn't want to fall out with you because I've loved your archived posts on training your dogs and loved your rabbit pie reci -

Calling The Police To Let Them Know You're Lamping

If the landowner has asked for something, and you want what you can get off his land, then suggest you do as he's asked. I have a teeny weeny bit of land, back home. Only since I came on here did I realise that 'permission' was a signif thing. I know that if there's anyone doing something I don't want, on my land, (only a coupla acres) there are people who will have a little word. (Maybe your new permish landowner probs has the same?) If you respect the countryside, and peoples rights over their own property, p'raps have some respect for the person who owns the land in question, and stick -
Hey. Look, I really don't want to be being tiresome or needy but, as I've embarked on this, just want to say..... Obvs I can see he looks fine and healthy... I lived with him and fed /exercised him every day since he got here a few months ago. My main question, that I was hoping for an answer to, probs should have been more clear... 'is (knobbly/ boney to touch) normal for a 9 month dog?' If the knobbles are to do with growth plates or growing/ 'developing', is letting him run at will over various incl hard surfaces going to have an impact on his skeletal integrity in the future? Seriously, v

He doesn't look especially thin, (he looks great actually) he just feels really bony and knobbly. My only point of reference is a well muscled adult greyhound, so I'm assuming maybe it's just that he hasn't developed a lot of muscle yet? Sorry if this seems dim, but this is my first pup.To be honest, even if I knew how to post a pic, most are just of him being a pet dog, so wouldn't be of much help. Thanks for the advice.

Colourful Sky A While Back
Squeamish5 replied to tillylamp's topic in Wildlife and General Photography
On the coast. Not actually 'from' kent.....born and grew up in the far south west but ended up here due to Himself's work. It's a funny thing...... When I arrived here and for many years, I was a bit sneery about this coast and how it wasn't 'proper sea' or 'proper sky' but, although the night sky here is pretty average, the horizons are sublime. Daily. Do keep posting the pics. It's so lovely to see other peoples skies. -
Hi I'm new here, got a rescue pup, don't plan to work him as I'm pathetically squeamish. Nevertheless I'd really appreciate some advice from people who know what they're talking about if anyone can spare the time. Nutrition: pup (now 9 months) born in good rescue to street dog. Fed on reasonable quality dry food from weaned til 5+ mths, and now mainly on varied meat + veg stew and whole grain mixer, with daily chicken wing toothbrush (Raw Meaty bones diet just doesn't work for how we live). Will any deficiencies in mother's diet during gestation have shown up in an obvious way by now?

Colourful Sky A While Back

Gorgeous. (And ever so slightly apocolyptical!) Good to know I'm not the only person who photographs the sky. None of mine anything like this though. So stunning. Thanks for sharing. -
