  1. Crackin bitch in the young lads arms shovel shy!
  2. The (right) lines of both white dogs & black dogs dont need any standing up for, they stand up well enough by themselves!!
  3. Merry Christmas to All & a Very Happy New Year!!
  4. As I say Im no historian & I do know there was a lot of doubling up in the distant past, but I wouldnt say this was just a white dog issue. The famous tale/song of the 2 lakies/fell terriers Bear & Grip doubled up & lost to ground together!?????
  5. Maybe its the strain of white terrier you've experienced! Its matters not the colour of the breed in question...its the strain thats important!
  6. The last few replies to your question are about what lads prefer nowadays but doesn't answer your question about who strives to breed or keep a type that is the same as the same type many, many years ago.IMO only a few men can honestly put their hands on their hearts and say they do and those men are a few Jack Russell breeders and a few Fell breeders. Only those Jack Russell breeders who strive for a JRT who'll work all quarry under ground using it's voice as it's greatest asset and only those Fell breeders who still use a hard terriers to kill or shift foxes from hard to reach places can sa
  7. IMO you cant beat the "Game" sounder! (Not the 'hold me back yappers') A rough & ready type with the insatiable drive to dominate its foe from the get go, immediately putting pressure on their fox till pocketed up & continuing that pressure with relentless sounding/mixing, but also having the gears to up the anti if needs be. Enough to match the hardest of terriers.
  8. No shortage of terrierlads young or old my way!!
  9. They should seek legal advice regarding wrongful arrest! The law cannot be allowed to get away with harrasing terriermen going about their legal legitamate business..
  10. The only Parks bred terrier Ive seen was as you described Neill rough harsh wire coated terrier like his father Mick. However JPs stuff came directly out of Cyril Breays stuff which if you look at the working terrier year books 87-91 page 184 could by red smooth coated terriers like Tig, Rusty & Bonny...
  11. Apologies for certain words missed out, I can spell most words, however, my typing isn't great by other people's standards! Hi LL check your mail. Have you or do you know anyone in the UK who still has a decent line of russell down off Griptons stuff..pm me if you like
  12. Id imagine youd sweat to death in a gortex pants. I use Mascot Torino work trousers c/w knee pad pockets(essential)...they're treble stitched. Not waterproof but unbelievably durable. They take some hacking! Used to go through the snickers gear in a matter of months but bar a few tears usually ankle high which dont creep, they last years! Highly recommend them ..
  13. (I dont know anything about Haggler or his litter) Completely agree FD regarding the steady producers but if a terrier is worked regular & hard throughout his/her life & came up trumps then IMO that terrier has earned their noteriety!!
  14. Seen it with three different bitches. The first of which I gave away to a neighbouring pack, whom she served well over the years. Definitely give her time to regain her strength & fitness & probably more so, to allow her hormones to settle down. Afford her a bit more leeway over the coming months. Our bitches returned to their usual selves again..
  15. Daniel no point in lying about the way a terrier works as it always comes out in the end, terrier world is a small gene pool and the truth will always surface at some stage and why lads do is beyond me,all your kidding at the end of the day is yourself. Spot on FM!!
  16. Never bolted or dug a rabbit but bolted a mouse once!
  17. We were discussing "Top class terriers", coming back from a days hunting the other day. It was a fair trip but it seemed to fly by with the conversation in question. But I suppose when you put it down in print it does seem an obvious statement! My own dog in question was a mixed breed, worker to worker. The majority of terriers discussed were Tom O'Reillys line of old, some in more recent times & some mixed worker to workers. Plenty of good dogs spring to mind but I was reminded of an older well respected terrierman saying how rare you come by top class dogs in your lifetime. Maybe its too
  18. I have only owned one such terrier IMO & consider it A Priviledge, A Rarity & An Almost Impossibility to Replicate!
