  1. I did say coming up. I can count in number of frost up here in the Northeast on one hand. We don't get the winter we use to, spring is getting early and I have heard from other mole catcher that they are coming across young moles early and early year on year
  2. What band setup do you use with the .36 I was thinking looped 2040. I use 2040 with 9.5mm steel works well but was wondering whether.36 or .34 would be good for close range hunting
  3. Does anyone know the weight in grains of .34 cal and .36 cal lead balls?
  4. Recently purchased a Clulite Head-a-lite Pro Flood 900 (HL18) and was shocked by the poor quality of the light. (1) The elastic on the headband well I've had stronger knicker elastic. (2) The access to the screw which attaches the light unit to the headband is small hard to access because of the lead from the battery to the light unit. (3) This is the poorest part on the whole thing is the crap switch Cluson have installed to turn the light on and off and switch between low mid and high beam. It just doesn't work properly???. Far better to have put a rotary switch or a dimmer switch on in i
  5. Every days a school day. I'll take may spade next time
  6. I was out for a wonder through my local wood when both my terrier's put up a grey squirrel. After chasing up a tree where it tried to take refuge until I got my catapult out and moved it on?. The squirrel took off through the canopy for about 35m then decided to come to ground terrier's in hot pursuit then suddenly everything when silent. One of my terrier's came back but the other one refused too. After 5 minutes I went looking for him only to find him marking a small rabbit size hole which we had passed just before the dogs put the squirrel up. There were no signs of rats or rabbits in the a
  7. The odd one just grazer to the thumb. Mainly when I was experimenting with different band setup's.Tend to get more problems with singles rather than loops. Like I said above band length and ammo weight is important as is shooting style no (gangster). Start light weight both bands and ammo and work your way up. Looped 2052 is as far as I will go.
  8. As long as you shoot it correctly and not try to force things it's accurate and safe. The black thera tube helps along with the 1/4 turn on the pouch to clear your hand. Correct draw length and ammo weight is very important. I also have a hunting setup which is 2052 loop band set with thera silver tubes. This setup I only shoot 14mm+ steel and 1/2oz leads???
  9. Having watched pfshooter on YouTube hitting targets just using a tbg band set I thought I would have a go. Having hit my thumb to many time I gave up, but not to be beaten I came up with this. Made from one of Hawks Catapult 1842 looped band sets a 1" split ring and two 3" black therapy tubes. I managed to make a bareback slingshot for less than £5. It shots as straight as a die with a zero of around 25m using 12mm steel or 10mm lead. If you make one of these you do so that your own risk and it is better starting off with a light band set single 2052 or similar using light ammo until you ge
  10. Forget the cheap moulds on eBay there not worth the money pay a little bit more and save the hassle. Look up bean shaped lead shot mould eBay seller called mundfordmachinetooling. He use to have round ball moulds may have to contact him. Or www.jt-bullet-moulds.co.uk about £25. Lee moulds are great but expensive
  11. I make my own floating Devon minnows catch far more trout and sea trout on them then shop bought ones. Dead easy to make. All you need is hacksaw, electric drill, 3mm+8mm drill bit, wood file and glue. Get some narrow garden cane cut it to what ever length you want, I like 1 1/4" for trout. Place in drill and use wood file to shape ends. Then use the hacksaw to cut the slots for the fins, I use the small plastic fins from Devon minnows shop and glue them in place, with the 3mm drill bit run it down centre of cane. At this point I some times put a small length of 3mm plastic tube down centre o
  12. There is a lot of poor quality tbg and tubing out there. I have one band set which is over 2 years old 25mm straight tbg shooting 12.7mm steel . Another favourite of my is double 35mm tbblack using 12.7mm steel real smooth setup. And one I have just put on my dunkang luck ring looped 20-52 shooting 10mm lead.??
  13. Yer poor old ratty no one wants him around. He's only there because there food and shelter. Bunny Huggers
  14. Caught a few wild brownies earlier in season on the smaller 7g models. Blue/silver supposedly good for sea trout. If your just starting out I would stick with mepps catcher more fish than any other lure world wide. But you have to match the size and the colour of the mepps to the river and weather conditions. Generally cold water(early season) silver mepps, warm water(mid summer) small copper or black mepps and remember trout will be in faster flowing parts of the river in summer (water more oxygenate) and slower deeper pools in the colder months (water tends to be warmer). Good luck and tight
  15. Top bait for catch big brownies is a minnow. I had a 4 1\2 lb one at the begin of last season on an artificial minnow.
  16. That the shop I have used but didn't want to name them. I have had quite a few bands and tubing of them and they simply don't last.I only shoot 9.5 or 12 mm steel so bands don't have a hard time. The only band I got off them which hasn't perished has been thera band black and it is a really smooth band to uses(30 mm wide)☺
  17. I'm after 3 band set with pouchers 25mm single thera band gold
  18. I have used one of the eBay seller who also has an on-line shop as well but have found his thera gold bands and tubes set don't last. The most recent band not even lasting 25 shot before the band start to perish(it looked like it had been shot with a shotgun. Gamekeeper John has so very good band sets but his customer service is not up to the same standards as I have heard a lot of complains on the slingshot forums. Just want to find someone who turn out reliable bands that reasonable priced .
  19. Where is a good place to purchase thero band sets
  20. You know what there say about the capture of a white mole
