  1. time for a nightshift sd ? ive just had a walk out with the dog on the moor farm, not been up there for a while as its like a swamp this time of year! there are fox prints all over the farmyard, the fields are full of runs and the dog found a liking for rolling ? hes just had his first swim, I was gonna wait for him to give water a go in his own time but I wasn't letting the smelly little fecker in the truck like that so threw him in a pond.
  2. think im gonna have to test drive one of these C50's I know the last digex were an ir nightmare but by the sounds of it it is now sorted, I like the pard 008 but mines got a few issues after a couple of years of being abused ? and they dont return to zero when swapped between guns with the crappy mount where as the thermal "same unit different internals" is on the money with good QR mounts. prefer the image of proper ir nv over thermal
  3. have you bought about splash shots sd?! I nearly smashed that .204 up when I got it due to runners with the 40grn v-max I switched to 32grn home loads and the problems almost gone away, I say almost as I still get the occasional runner and I think wtf.. the shot was good. ive been with mates who've seen me hit stuff and its not dropped.. ive had a slot for hmr for years and its never been filled even though I get offers them cheap all the time, my mate had one for a while years back and I had a good play with it, it was accurate enough.. mint groups at 100yard but the tv
  4. think the green and red is a thing.. that's why they make them fibre sights for shotgun red or green! I use a green bead and green lamp when I lamped, never had a problem picking up eye shine on rats/ rabbits or fox. my shotgun mate has used a white/ standard lamp for ever.. I can't see sh1t when hes ranting hes on one, that's why we normally go in opposite directions when were out. the reticle stands out way better for me with green lamp and all night scopes I use have yellow of green set as ret colour.
  5. Side loader will be sat with his feet up chilling and thinking about that boat in Cornwall you can’t beat a nice day in the fields with a good friend specially when there’s a good bag of quality birds down.. perfect day in my book sd. anyway happy new year? im off t pub
  6. I can remember a McCain spud tuck losing a load of starch sludge on a roundabout when we were waiting for the school bus.. think we cheered on about 15 crashes before someone deemed it a bit dangerous ?
  7. this lads only six month old.. got him off a keeper that's been breeding them for bout six year. wasn't to sure at first as me last dog was a Brittany and a mint busher.. this little fcukers right up there already, he'll pile into any cover and scrambles over walls on the moor! first time I took him out with sg he flushed this, I only pricked it but he was on it straight away and finished it off. got photos of parents at work and I saw them when I got him.. they work fox well.
  8. I’ve used the 156grn Sako off the shelf ammo in my 6.5x55 and it grouped great that was with a 1-8.8 twist barrel , furthest shot with it about 250yard and bang on the money. I only bought the 156grn as they were in the bargain bucket and I wanted the brass.. been loading 129grn sst since then and never felt the need to change, good on fox and deer and flatter shooting
  9. My mates the same:) and he’s got a lot more patience than me.. he’s just text me asking weather a thermal he's seen is any good? he’ll still use the shotgun but have a bit more notice if Charlie is on his way. bet he’ll have it sold within a month if he buys it:)
  10. there are 4 big fields surrounding the chicken farm and there all rape, they've set them all at different times so there not all targeted at the same time.. loads of pigeons in the area locally but not seen any hitting these fields! the only thing ive seen munching the stuff are the roe:( got asked to get one for a lad the other day but with the bird flu I can't drive the land and im fcuked if im dragging one 3/4mile back to the motor
  11. There’s a keeper at the pigs and there are keepers either side of the first place I went to.. I’m not into game shoots so I’ll just look after my man when the times called for
  12. I shoot on an estate near Driffield and there are lads from donny who drive all that way to shoot a few rabbits.. feck that, 20 mins drive is my top out.
  13. your right, there sh1t holes.. this place is running sand and its like a swamp at the moment, the smells not to bad there as its in a massive vale and permanently windy.. its about 800 ache this place so a lot of ground to cover, there a shoot on this land to so the foxs will take the pheasants as well, nothing to do with us so if there munching pheasants there not taking piglets
  14. I shoot two more pig farms, both b&b I got them years ago through ratting with the air guns.. they all pull foxs in and are mint for rat nights when the weathers bad
  15. cheers sd my mate is bloody good with a shotgun, his dad was a proper old school keeper and he learnt from him,, he's a first light lad, he'll do the legwork during the day and turn up an hour before sunlight any time of the year.. that's why I'll only do winter on there with him, I dont enjoy getting up at 3am in the summer months:( hes had all sorts of rifles over the years and just never uses them, i got him an nv spotter and he sold it as he didn't like it. this pig farm and a chicken farm are his two main shoots, to tell you the truth neither are crawling with
  16. just been reading sd's post about the lucky and not so lucky fox.. and was thinking my last few outings couldn't be any more un traditional! ive been thinning out a few foxs as the lambs are due any time, any way I was board night before last and the weather was terrible but I thought id chance it.. on arriving at a barn and yard bout a mile from where the lambing is done theres another field full of the next batches that often get visits as theres feeders in a copse in the same field and it pulls a few foxs in. any way I got out of the motor and thought wtf am I doing her
  17. .204 id put another post up but it went tits up ? that was a very untraditional night?
  18. ? ace… it’s like reading the adventures of Tom Sawyer. love hearing about your escapes sd.. I use to fish in a private trout stream as a kid with hand lines, I was there with you reading that and got to confess somewhat envious? great result
  19. Might cost a few quid to find the right choice but when it comes together it’s worth it and I think fixed is a good choice cos once you’ve found what works well there’s no more messing about thinking should I change choke?
  20. Skeet opened up to much for me at about 30 yard… I tried all sorts of different chokes makes of chokes and all sorts sd, I took a box full and tested all sorts with my mate and from the experience I have not that I profess to being an expert is try different loads in what you’ve borrowed as different size shot and loads patten differently quite dramatically through the same chokes
  21. I bought a miroku o/u as I was sick of the auto spiting cartridges all over.. so after last season got the o/u, I decided to use steel for anything me or the dog are gonna eat. me and my mate have tested loads of different shells/ shot sizes and weights.. I had two skeet which I thought would be good for what I wanted but the amount of stuff that carried on flying wasn’t funny, when I patterns them there was a good spread apart from the centre where there were fist size holes in the pattern so I swapped to both barrels fitted with modified and settled on these cartridges, there not che
  22. It’s not a thunder box, it’s a turdis?
  23. What a day?? bet he’s on cloud 9 stick the woodcock in the freezer and buy him a taxidermy book for Christmas ?
