  1. I am somewhat jealous matey, it is at the very top of my wish list for next year. Only had a few shots with one at the game fair and hooked good style just wished somebody round here had one for to me have have a session because the scope on the one I tried was utter rubbish for me, blurred as hell although I am certain I will be getting one or perhaps two. Have you had any mag indexing issues with your .177 as I heard the .22 was no problem but the .177 had this problem. Phil
  2. I popped over to my perm today in very heavy rain on route to a fishing session, just to scan over the fields BUT the land next to my perm had well over 1000 canada geese on the wet stubble. Out with the binos as this huge skeen took to the air making a real old noise in the process. 200 yds and they will be slap bang on my perm................................ooooh how I wish The rain feel good style so the fishing was done under a motorway ( where the motorway runs over the river), no pike but a good banter with hot coffee and my fishing buddy so not a bad day, need a bit of frost to
  3. Let me get this right Si, you bought Accupels already washed and lubed..................................from where. Phil
  4. Nice one Mark, I'm pleased you went the older glass route to complete the real classic air rifle package. Spot on matey. Phil
  5. Hmmm my FAC ticket should be here this month if things are not too far behind.................... Thanks for the invite, I will certainly let you know if I get up Wakefield way. Phil
  6. Just a thought Mark, are you going to try and get hold of old scopes to keep in tune with the period, I bet there a few still kicking around in the back drawers of some RFD's who would love to get rid for a few quid. I think I would take this route in order to stay true to the era you want to remember. Some of the Simmons scopes are basic but good and still around. Food for thought sir. Phil
  7. Perhaps we will be needing a 'Classic Guns' section soon. Hope you enjoy it Mark. Phil
  8. Just had a look at Pellpax site, very nice but it looks like your cheek is on the mag or perhaps not, difficult to say but it must be very very close. If that is the case, is it comfortable to use. A really good price though, less than half the cost of the Wildcat that I want. Phil
  9. Love the look of your perm Mark, reminds me of a Forestry Commission perm I had some years ago, sadly a change of area manager changed that. Phil
  10. I will have a think about that mate, could have a mini meet, you, little hunter, David and me not forgetting Si,.....................where to pull the trigger though. Phil
  11. I have changed my opinion regarding reticle design/thickness on different scope makes. I started off wanting a strong image but as I got better needed something a bit finer and then bought an MTC Genesis with much finer reticle than anything else I had used but when I got used to it, I could never go back to a thicker reticle. In fact the Ultra that I have just bought has a BSA scope which has a really thick reticle and I just can't see the target so that is already off and going to the RFD to part ex on something. Take a little time to check the quality of the reticle on the scope you might
  12. One here Jimmy if he wants to try it out mate. Phil
  13. That's true Mark BUT and there is always a BUT, there is a lot of dosh to go back into the bank account because trust me, when you build these things with quality products, it costs, OH MY GOD does it cost, £85 for a sheet of lightweight wood finish ply, I won't bore you with details as there are 3 A4 sheets of inventory lists in the file so the £15k will reduce by a very large amount. We have had a few people look at the project whilst it was being built, saying things like, I might think of doing this myself......................they don't know the half. This is the third one I have been
  14. It will be going on at £15k but understand this is not a sales ad, I was just showing something that I am quite proud of. It will be going on ebay soon. Phil
  15. It was just a delivery van, my son in law used to build motorhomes costing around £250,000 so we have a guru in the team. We have made it to a high spec with no penny pinching whatsoever. Thanks guys Phil
  16. I thought I would just show you lot what my son in law and myself have been building in our spare time. Now ready for selling to boost my pocket money or should I say Wildcat fund. Just what you need for a night away shooting............................with beer fridge, gas hob, microwave, 240v hot water boiler, fold down TV, wind out awning and a comfortable double bed. Phil
  17. In order to get 'hold' right, which is not so easy as Mac and Simon will agree and I had to put in loads of practice after those two gentlemen spent time showing me. I suggest going to a range and get somebody who shoots a springer well to show you or of course the club coach if there is one because getting help from people who KNOW to you personally, make a world of difference. I am sure there will be a range not too far away, if you don't know of one, have a look on here :- http://www.shootingclubdirectory.com/ Hope that helps Phil
  18. I always wanted one of these when they first came out but never did get one, can't remember why, perhaps the price at that time or availability as there was no internet so it was a case of seeing them in 'Shooting Times' but not in a local shop, how things have changed. Look forward to seeing what you finish up with mark. Phil
  19. Well presented Nath, I enjoyed that mate. Phil
  20. I totally understand where you are coming from Jim, as soon as any hobby/sport becomes a chore, it is time to do something about it. I find that having both shotguns and rifles, I have the ability to switch from one to the other with a blend of clay shooting in the mix. I also think the HW 100 is a completely boring high precision tool which doesn't give the pleasure I thought it would hence my interest in the FAC Rapid and Wildcat, something a bit different and the HW will go. More to your point of too much demand on you because of the sheer volume of perms, perhaps, loaning the perm
  21. To be truthful, I would not buy any scope without looking through it first. With these aging eyes it is important to establish what works for the individual because the number of times I have seen posts on various forums where one guy says scope x is great and another says how crap they are but scope z is tons better etc etc. I am a BIG believer in supporting local dealers of which I have a couple and one of them will supply me with a scope that suits me, we need to support local or we won't have any. One of those dealers has a s/h mamba which may be where I finish. I have my FAC ticket du
  22. Love the S10 Jon and a thumbhole springer, now I wish I had that on my TX, I might love it a bit more. Enjoy Phil
  23. Thanks for the heads up on that but just looked now £185 so on the up..... To be honest, I am going to take the Hawke Varmint off the TX and put it on the Ultra and stick the BSA on the TX because it is unlikely it will ever get used for hunting. Phil
