  1. Just been and collected my commisioned painting from Dotty.... It is of my old Cattle Dog lurcher,.Speckle....I bred her in the late 's. She was no great shakes I suppose,...but I kept her for a decade or more,.and she helped me get over a bad time in my life... Many thanks to you Dotty,...your skillful artistic impression has certainly captured the old gal as I will always remember her.... You are indeed,..a talented young guy, and I would genuinely recommend your work to all my fellow hunting enthusiasts... All the best,...CHALKWARREN....

  6. Brilliant set of images there Nobby.... They brought back loads of memories ,.... I purchased a nice 'hard blood' pup off Joe Mather of The Blue Peter race track in Stockport,..what a character he was,.eh... I also had pups of Big Ben x Spot Pride,... They seemed to be strange looking whippets to us Southerners,.We were used to the KC registered 'Coursing lines,..but we soon learnt the score and bought in 'Rch Flyby' and Baby Jane (Bilko bred)...And then,.we were ready to rumble... I have always gone for that look in a small lurcher, and my young bitch, SKY has taken after them old sty
  7. You are quite right there Ditchy,... And what an excellent book it was... Kenzie certainly was a right auld character,..they don't make them like that anymore... I saw him at a Game Fair many years ago... He was doing various wildfowl calls and had a large group of guys standing around listening to his accurate impressions.. Kenzie managed to portray the lonely, haunting calls of the various Marshland ducks and waders,. He was real good at it,..and unlike some of today's showmen, when he did a hare or fox call it didn't sound as though he was having some kind of stomach wrenching
  8. Well done Elisderyn Information passed on to others, regarding just who is a genuine GOODFELLAH,.and who is a low-life scumbag,..is fecking priceless....
  9. Ted was an ORIGINAL,...a great guy to be around, and a genuinely interesting man with a lot of knowledge regarding the running dogs,.especially the Pedigree Coursing Whippet.... He was an Officer and a Gentleman,..no doubts about that... He was also a true friend, and helped me get out of a difficult situation Rest in Peace E.G WALSH... "Lurchers and Longdogs".....: Ted Walsh judging lurchers at a small local show.
  10. Well done 'Little Ted'.... Only 29 more to go ,..then you can join the 'Big Debate'.... Kind regards,..CHALKWARREN.....
  11. Well then, have you bought one yet? or are you buying one? no i havent yet but i wont rush in for the sake of it, i want to get the right dog. i might be wrong but 20 years ago it sounds like he could get hes hands on proper working stock but is he just breeding any old collie to any old greyhound now just to keep him in business ,as i say i might be completly wrong .might wait for the right litter to come along from somebody breeding for thereself as i say i fancy a three quarter bred but it needs to be out of the right stuff . Patience is a Virtue........
  12. : Great news about your Wife,....'onwards and upwards ' now mate... All the best,.from your friend PL.
  13. Sounds about exactly right, mate. Personally, I was a mate of the other guy, from Selby. Mark. Smashin' lad. We got together at several shows. Travis was usually staggering around with two cans clutched in one hand, one of top of the other. By noon. Yeah,.I knew of him.... We often met up at the shows,...he was harmless enough... Poor fecker,...he liked a drink,....maybe too much.... Good luck to the poor fellah,.wherever he may be.... Cheers,.CHALKWARREN......

  16. Get yer drift Mackay,.... I think such dogs DO exist,..its just that for a lot of guys,..more so lads new to the hunting game,..such a dog doesn't appear to be all that exciting,...and their thoughts turn to 'other things',...Who can blame them,...I was the same Personally,..the ferreting dog , is my ideal,..and to be truthful,.unless it was a contract job on the Motorways,..I wouldn't go out without one Dogs and ferrets go together like Bacon and Eggs... or,.Curry and Rice,.or,.feck the ferreting,..I'm hungry,.again All the best,.CHALKWARREN...
