In my honest opinion through years of being around pups ,heat lamps are the cause of a lot of issues after birth .

Stress is a big cause the bitch can lose the pups after whelping & They don't like been in the same kennels with other dogs when whelping or have young pups .

Fd I've had terriers lurchers and hounds for 36 years in all them years I've never had any trouble with heat lamp, in fact pups love it at only two days old are led all over welping box and not huddled together fo keep warm, takes a lot of pressure off the bitch! IMO
