Friends of mine in Australia had a dingo as a pet.

it was never really tamed, it couldn’t be let of the lead unless in an enclosed space.

It was ok with them, a bit aloof, if anything , but very wary of strangers.

People I talked to said they never seen a one that was tamed completely and advised against having one as a pet.

I have heard similar in foxes in the UK someone had a pet fox not probably tammed just trusted the people that was a round it never lived in the house in a shed it was kept

A schoolmate reared  a fox from a cub .  He brought it to school once and it bit the biology teacher  .  it became a real handful when it matured and in the end  it went to a wildlife sanctuary (or so we were told).

You a right about the smell though. The lad who owned it always wore an old  lumber jacket  and it stunk!
