Cheers. Why reference what I said then? Of course the burden is upon the tax payer. They make up the electorate and decide through elections what their money is spent on. And time and again fail to prioritise defence or its funding. Fail to hold government accountable for waste or dumb initiatives. I just find it so lazy to always say “we’ll use the foreign aid budget”. Like that isn’t one tenth what is needed or even a political reality.

I think that’s the plan but it could take two weeks to get there from the South China Sea, who knows ? I wouldn’t like to guess what’s going on in Trumps mind Cheers. You offered a solution to raising defence spending, I offered an alternative. Dont get upset if someone has a different view to yours As I’ve said many times ; I can respect anyone’s view without necessarily agreeing with it Cheers.
Born Hunter 18,179
It will be super interesting to see if marines are deployed to capture island/s. A significant part of their doctrine in a potential future war with china is island hoping. A successful operation would send a big message to the Chinese. I wonder how the US citizens feel about boots on the ground though.

It wasn’t a solution it was a tool for demonstrating the real problem, lack of priority in government and the electorate.

Two weeks before it set sail and now three days to reach Lands End. Are they rowing it there or did they leave the engine in dry dock and put an outboard on the back of it. Its bloody embarrassing. Cheers Arry They have to do a certain amount of drills and exercises before deploying. They could of course forgo these but that would then introduce risk during the deployment. I guess that risk has been deemed unacceptable given the assets already in the region.
jukel123 10,512
Tucker Carlson, often tipped as a future American president and a leading figure on the right has been highly critical of what he calls "Israel's war." Andrew Tate, Nick Fuentes and Joe Rogan are other extremely influential individuals who have criticised Israel's actions. Tate and Fuentes, like Carlson are far to the right in their opinions. I think significant numbers of people are beginning to question Israel's aggression and America's unconditional support of that aggression. I think the Republicans are going to be performing some soul searching in the next few months. Especially as the death toll of American soldiers mounts. Trump's popularity will plummet.Just before mid term elections. Especially as prices will rise because of the war. Having said that, the Democrats would probably have followed Israel into the war, such is the grip Israel has on America. I've said it before. Maybe Iran isn't the great satan in that region, maybe its Israel. Iran has an oppressive government. Tough. That's nothing to do with us. And its nuclear ambitions, if it did have any, have been contained through bombing. Imo, Israel should reign in its aggression toward its neighbours. As far as we are concerned Israel's neighbours are, diplomatically, our friends and trading partners. So sod Israel. I hope no British lives are lost in this high stakes Israeli venture. Trump has got some brass neck asking other countries to help police the Strait of Hermuz. He and Israel caused this literal minefield. Why should others have to clean it up? https://youtu.be/JZxj_c0g5lU?si=cV_RW_3IUbxZGquC Edited March 14 by jukel123

I despise his views but he is influential. Also accept your point about 'friends'. Useful is probably a better word. Rogan too is very, very influential. He calls it as he sees it. Decent at what he does in my book. You must keep up about Tucker Carlson. He has a tremendous following as a political commentator. He is the darling of the right in America. And he's clever too. There's hundreds of people who sit around all day pontificating acting about politics. Just like us. Only unlike us they get megabucks for their opinions.
