I'm a binman tomo.

Back in the old days , when it was bin bags , you could have a week off at Christmas,  and take two weeks worth of bags the following week , but now that it's wheelie bins , you can't do it.  Once the bin is full , it's full , so it has to be done the same week .

Well mate, them bins ain’t gonna not collect themselves for wrong type of rubbish !…..lol

Well the family is off to Colombia for Christmas, so Wifey and I will be just the two of us. We have had single mother and her teenage lad for Christmas dinner couple of years before last,  they were

We're lucky still have both sets of parents and they've been coming to ours since we moved 4 years ago. Cancer, heart attacks, and two have early stage dementia its hard word but so blessed to have th

Have a quiet word with the HSE mate. I work in waste management we have to provide PPE, wash and drying facilities, clean and dirty areas in the locker room, anti bacterial wipes in the vehicles etc etc, hot water and toilets are a must.  We have all that stuff and its very clean and tidy and I even issue Weils disease info cards out at the staff inductions and instructions on how to wash your hands above the sinks, but our recent HSE visit saw us with a £100 fine because our nail brushes were dirty ! I get what your saying about the agency side of things though been there myself.

PS: Also if they are industry standard they should be offering inoculations for things like TB and Hep B&C to maintain the accreditation, in my experience they would not want to lose an accreditation.

Oh mate , I could write a book .

I'm convinced that the hse are as crooked as the council . I contacted the hse over a very serious matter( dangerous to employees and the public , and illeagal) . I included a long statement,  and pictures . All I got was an email saying that the employer only has to try to limit the risks , they don't have to make things safe. They never even looked at it.

I've seen a guy get a warning after a needle stick , from a hypo that had been hidden on the inside of a bin handle .

They tried to force me to leave after I got stabbed in the leg . I'd asked for ppe , and the answer I got was " f**k off !" .   Not a polite " we don't have any " , it was a big fat loud " f**k off !".( they has loads by the way , they just wouldnt give me any).

Mate I could tell you a million stories .

The health and safety stories are bad enough , but then you have the sexual harassment by a manager , of a young female member of staff , that got brushed under the carpet , and cocaine use by the same manager , that got brushed under the carpet ( the managers from the dept next door call him snowy) , you've got a recent video of the same manager giving it the wanker sign to villa fans at a football match ( not a great look for a local authority operations manager), that's in the process of being brushed under the carpet.

I've got 25 years of stories that have all been witnessed by dozens of people,  and brushed under the carpet.

Looking at your fine for nail brushes . We've never had nail brushes , and rarely have soap , sometimes we don't have water , and sometimes we just have steam . The toilets had no toilet rolls for months . The people that were cleaning the toilets( the toilets are rented) , had stopped putting toilet rolls in , as they said that they were being stolen.  When it finally got looked into , it was because lads were using it to dry there hands , as the hand drier had never worked.

You'll sometimes use the toilet,  and shit will blow up out of the pan , when the next door toilet gets flushed.

All of this information has been sent to hse , with pictures as evidence,  but nothing whatsoever has ever been done.

You cant work more than 6 days on the trot either

Yes you can .. if they have it as 2 days/fortnight so technically you can do 12 days none stop ..

It's a load of shite imo people think when it's weekend they shouldn't be working it but I preferred to work weekends and have mid week off could get all lot more done without all the people trying to do the same lol.

Christ that's bad mate the HSE are red hot here, they check the cleanliness of the microwave and would normally automatically serve a prohibition notice for no hot water.

It’s like all those old type of jobs, modernised to a point that it’s shit mate……when I was a kid, we had a really decent crew of dustmen did our local round in South London, this was the time when you still had 6 or so lads in a crew and everything got carried in those metal bins over their shoulder.

My old man would bung the foreman a score (which I suppose wasn't bad 79/80 ) and them lads would clear any amount of shit from the back yard or wherever.

Look after them Christmas time to top it off, everyone’s a winner and I suppose they was having that little tickle all over the show and it made life worth living so to speak….but like everything else, they take away the tickle, add a load of rules and regulations, halve the men and now it’s all just as wank as the next thing.

Id hazard lads at the yard years ago would have had a metal pile, a little pile of stuff to sell, all sorts to make a few more quid that men can feel good about……all that’s gone now, and f**k all works as well as it used to!
Must do your nut in because you cop the worst of both worlds, your copping it off the management and your copping it off residents frustrated about all these rules and reg’s

Mate you wouldn't believe some of the stories I could tell you , because they're just so unbelievable.

Some of the things that stick in my head , are a supervisor trying to force me to drive my lorry , the wrong way up a one way street .

Two supervisors trying to lock me in an office , and back me into a corner , to physically intimidate me into answering my phone while I drive my lorry ( the pair of pricks got a reaction they didnt expect that day , and have never been stupid enough to try that one since).

A supervisor grabbing one of the young office girls by the throat with both hands.

Mate it's f***ing grim . I stay because I'm on an old contract , and still get payed relatively decent money , and have the perk of paid sick leave , but most of the guys have no contract , and are payed just above minimum wage , but , with enforced lay offs from time to time , they earn much less than minimum wage across a year.

It rarely gets to hr , as things just get hidden,  but when it does , it just gets buried even deeper.

I've got a recording on my phone , of one of my supervisors telling me that my truck is fine to drive , even though the handbrake kept coming off on its own .

It'll come out soon enough , but will just get hidden like everything else does.

We had a death in our yard a few years ago . The police and hse were involved , and the local authority received a six figure fine . We aren't even allowed to speak of it in front of managers . Neither are we allowed to speak of the 400k ish , that one of the councils top people blew on a jolly up with his mates in france .  Or the 150k golden handshake that he got , after his six months paid sick leave when he finally moved on.

Mate the place is just a cesspit.

That’s the one,the dragon gate for the feng Shui dragon to fly through, the BBQ spot was down on the beach.

Spent many a day on that beach. I remember a Chinese bird walking into the sea, absolute stunner, dragon tattoo curling around her legs all the way up to her shoulder with the dragoons head on her back . Total beauty she was , I was laying on my towel trembling like a terrier outside a badger sett.
