However, now I’m really into cheap and cheerful and cheap on juice and I’m getting 53 to the gallon out of the latest thing. I begrudge £100 a week on diesel just to potter about day to day. I genuinely couldn’t give two fucks about cars. I haven't owned a car since I moved to Spain (14+ years). Public transport is cheap as fuuck here, works and is on time.... If I need a motor, I just borrow a mate's. Laws are a bit different here if the car is insured the driver is too. Bit like a traders policy in UK.
jukel123 9,872
Used to have one of these back in the day.Great for lamping. Take the battery out for a night's lamping and, if it was flat when you got back to the car, the trusty starting handle would get you started. Brilliant machines. https://board.mmoc.org.uk/viewtopic.php?t=37129 Edited 2 hours ago by jukel123

scotty12 4,172
They should remove the licence of drivers of 65+ and protect our tiny little roads and give them all a pass for free public transport. Those desperate to keep on driving should sit a 6 monthly welfare fit to drive test. Would free up the congestion on the roads and make them safer

Do people really need American style pick ups and 4 wheel drive SUVs to go to Tesco? It's total overkill. It's getting so you're going to have to buy a silly beast of a car as protection, just in case one of the daft 'ego' cars hits you head on. Parking a car in designated white line spaces is becoming impossible because wannabe tough guy cars are taking up more than their allotted space. Just for the record I drive a modest 2019 Honda civic with a filthy interior, which has been washed occasionally to remove salt in winter and has numerous scratches on the bodywork. It's only done about 60000 miles and I'll either drive it until it dies or give it to my grandson. Cars have become much more than a means to an end. They are huge statements of status, wannabe power and toughness. They are bollox. You sound a bit bitter because you cant afford a car that you'd actually like to own and enjoy driving

jukel123 9,872
I've had a berlingo in the past. Kip in them if you need to. My son has a Toyota land cruiser, zero gallons of diesel to the mile. But he lives in the far north in the tundra and lives in an igloo. Feels like that to me anyway. Buy at 30000 miles or 3 years old. That way you benefit from most of the depreciation. So I was told anyway.
