Off on a tangent here but this thread reminded me of something. Gordon Brown as then Chancellor of the Exchequer sold off a significant part of our gold reserves and cost the UK an estimated £35 - 37 billion in today's prices. Figures from a quick online search, so not saying they're accurate but he fecked up. The same man as PM called a Labour supporting constituent in Rotherham an horrible old bigot (or words to that effect) after she raised concerns regarding the influx of immigrants in her town.

In the old EDRD David Harcombe would often describe New Labour as 5th Columnists, now they're back in charge I think he may have been onto something 🙂

£3164 an oz.  Think your looking at the dollar price. 770 plus for a sovereign.

It all depends on the what sovereign it is ,you can buy full sovereign for as little as 300 but they are in poor condition ,and I've seen half ,sovereign go for five hundred because the king/queen and date on the coin,

No matter what gold will always hold, you will never loose,

When I was a kid my gran would always put her money into gold like sovereigns, Krugerrands, anything she could get at decent price she would snap it up

She had a gold Guinea on a chain ,she gave it to my sister when she got wed , worth few quide now

Thats it Mooch , a big difference between spot price and coin prices , ive seen shops paying spot price for coins that are worth alot more, always sell to a decent coin dealer and not jewelry shops

Incidentally anyone on here collect US  peace dollars , 90% silver
