Was never bought to be just a worker she is a big pet, but want a lurcher with her as the dam . Hare rabbit n rats she’s done so far. Love deerhounds have had 3 so far, well aware other dogs out there that do the job a lot better Kind of pointless worrying about breeding yet if your bitch is that young as you don’t know really what she’s lacking yet to try compliment the breeding that you would like to take place in the future. How I look at it is you’ve just got to look at the crosses that people out there run and why you think they run them and be honest with your self. How I see it is the saluki greyhound line bred types have always had the coursing game in the bag an the bull cross line bred types have always had the hard strong gear in the bag that’s why there so popular because they do the job an the reason the traditional bred types fell out of favour because they couldn’t compare to these types when these 2 types are crossed together they seem to produce very good all round types that can be used for a bit of everything your not going to get this type off breeding out of a track bred greyhound that’s been bred for the last 2 and a half decades to run on a sand oval 7 Quote Link to post
Daniel cain 49,314
For what it's worth..give your bitch a few seasons, and work out what it is you think will improve her....if it's more speed/stamina- then go coursing bred..if it needs more heart for a task-then linebred bull)Wheaton grey... If I was you I would use a good saluki)/bull)grey and hopefully then you get more wind and heart and a better overall dog for everything.. If you're just f***ing about with rabbits...then out a whippet/bedlington over it...bring down the size... Just make sure the bitch is worth breeding from, don't take a litter, just because you like the dog 6 Quote Link to post

Just wondering how are deerhounds fragile ? I thought that one good point of them is that they are quiet robust 1 Quote Link to post

The bitch i have now is completely different to him she has a bit more go about her. Quote Link to post
