I first got a chess board when I was a youngster which was an unwanted Christmas present so learned it then, I'm probably in the bottom 99th percentile. Taught my two eldest to play, and will teach my youngest, who is only 4 1/2 at the moment. No point in trying to teach our 17 year old lad to play, he has the attention span of a gnat, the memory of wet flannel and no desire to learn ANYTHING, despite all our help and encouragement.
