Ah yes indeed Tales of Buster skimming the slop something frantic were legion by dint of an oversized tongue, a heath robinson hover craft affair if you will I hear performances of 8 minutes plus weren't uncommon before blowing up and the charge rendered hors de combat for several months 1 1 Quote Link to post

The sire to the one in the snow was Doxhope Knights Errant and he told me the two on the cover of his book “Deerhounds and Deerhound Lurchers “, these two; were her grandparents and the bitch , Doxhope Ambecky, which is pictured in the book jumping a gate, was the best working pure he had. Doxhope Knights Errant is the grand sire to the bitch I have now. Cheers. Just noticed what u said about doxhope ambecky charts and the name rang a bell , it’s on my bitches pedigree, aswell as doxhope laird of glenesk @chartpolski 1 Quote Link to post
thefensarefarbutistillgo 2,654
I wonder if anyone has ever bred a first cross saluki deerhound and what they would be like, probably useless but you never know with that bit of hybrid vigour could turn out faster than either parent, I think a first cross deer grey put back to a pure saluki could work thow 1 Quote Link to post

Bred her to tor of dartmoor, and kept a dog pup back for himself out of the litter. At about 10-11 months of age, he offered me the sapling for free. Watched him have a couple of gallops, then refused the offer. Was probably the gangliest, most ungainly looking running dog I've ever seen. Was like he couldn't coordinate his legs with his body. Saying all that mind, he was 30" tts and still had a fair bit of maturing to do, but it didn't instill much confidence or hope lol. Quote Link to post

Yes I can imagine there would be a lot more bad ones than good ones, not sure what a deerhound could add to benefit any lurcher, I think some people just like the look and size of them Quote Link to post
