Working deerhound blood is hard to find now but there’s still some about if you do your homework.

Ive noticed at the few shows I’ve been to this year that the deerhound types are making a comeback….wether they are worked or not is a different matter.

100% what chart said my pal kept a very good deer / grey bitch. Tried to breed couple times  she wouldn’t hold pups, she’s dead and gone now. Had a dog bred similar way was decent but not on same level as the bitch she was deadly and tidy at her job

Genuine chart wouldn't  lads a been better bringing them down to 26tts or so 

Fastest dog I've  ever seen was a coursing bred x deerhound grey bk to the deerhound grey 

few times at Askern it woukd smoke what was  there and greys the lad had coursing it would loose 200 yds and make it up in a blink had a great  strike some the bestvtakes inever seen but shite at turning just hundred mile an hour all the time

I think it’s only the first crosses that go 28/29” mate.

Second crosses can be a lot smaller. 
I had an Ashington bred second cross dog, early 70’s , that went 25/26”.

When he went over a greyhound, I had a bitch pup that would have been the size of the bitches I keep now.

The one on the right in this pic is a bitch I had with only 1/8th deerhound, the rest was beddy , whippet, greyhound and only went 23” the bitch on the left was Ashington bred , mainly deer/ grey with just a dash of collie and only made 24”;

Billy Doherty had small, ( for pure deehound), bitches, and my pal that bred deerhounds had some smallish bitches.

With first crosses you are just about guaranteed as to what you get.

I think there’s no better sight in running dogs than a deer cross in full flight, daytime on a roe. 
Of course the coursing breds will, generally be better on hares, but sometimes it’s just what pleases you that you kennel.

Your pals gonna have a very well bred coursing x deer/wheaton x . I honestly think that dog if good enough would straighten out a lotta deer bitches . Fingers xd

This is a pure Deerhound bitch, around 26”;

Mainly Doxhope/Seaton Valley breeding;

Put this non-ped whippet/grey over her and I’d be first in line for a pup !

Don’t do what a lot of people do that’s never had one mate and expect a world beater at 12mths old.They mature slowly and start coming into there own at about 18mths old but the bitches click quicker than the dogs.

Yes i know mate my male got injured at a young age. She’s 13/14 months now, Just started her jumping now she’s a bit older and will let her have a wee spin october time 16/17 months, good age at that
