gnasher16 31,122
Well that was a bit of an anti climax......thought id use the powder first and then spray.....steamed down there all charged up about 9.30 ready for a battle, rammed the nozzle of the spray into the hole and kept squeezing for 30 seconds.....took it out and started running....looked back and nothing, about 3 wasps flew out !......thinking they'd bottled it i went back straight away with the spray, sprayed right inside the hole and f**k me loads flew out .....legged it up into the house....went back a few hours later and just a few of them pottering about by the hole......i'll do the same again over the weekend but if thats it then what a disappointment i wanted a couple of stings to at least know ive been in a fight....wimps !

jukel123 9,179
When I worked in forestry we would come across dozens of nests hanging from trees. I used to volunteer to be the one to burn them out. The other lads thought I was mad but I was never stung. A stick with an ignited paraffin soaked rag would get rid of a nest quickly. A nest burns like paper. Many of the lads were badly stung but I got off scot free because I was surrounded by smoke, flame and the reek of paraffin. Simples. Wasps numbers seem to have recovered this year. He used to pride himself on his bushcraft and sneak up on us. To humour him we all used to praise his ability to conceal himself. Even though we usually knew he was there because wood pigeons were exploding into the air as he approached us. One day he came roaring out of the undergrowth and a falling tree only just missed him. He soon recovered himself and was bragging as usual that I hadn't seen him. In fact I was more shaken up than him lol. Despite his bullshit he was a nice fella. He turned a blind eye to any snares we had laid and was a brilliant gundog trainer who didn't mind sharing his tricks. Edited July 11 by jukel123
